Could you please let me know how long it took for you to receive the FP notice after your congressman contacted USCIS ? Also, how far out was the date for FP, when you received it ?

I did not see the letters myself (I am in TX now) but my daughter just called me and told, 3 letters came today by mail with approval for all 3 of us!!!
Well when we will get cards I will update...but, this means there is hope for all those with NC/security pending since 2003!!! Hang on folks!
I do not know what triggered that, last effort I spent on congressman asking to expedite my case because my daughter is turning 21 soon. I know she still will be covered by some 'child protection act', but congressman for some reason decided it is good reason and he contacted Baltimore office and they then sent FP notice to all of us... recently I was there, on March 16th, trying to find out NC status but lady officer was not willing to give me any info on that...and today approval letters came dated March 21st.

I am not sure when did congressman contact balt.office, I did contact congressman in Oct 2005, then again in Dec or early Jan 2005 (pointing out my daughter's age) and after that I guess they did request expediting from baltimore (earlier they just did request case status from them), FP notice came for appointment Feb 23-March 1, they gave us a choice of any day during this week, notice came about one week prior to Feb 23rd.

need help to find out name check

Hi to everyone,
i want to know how can we find out whether our application is in name check or background check. I tried calling 1 800 number but they are no giving any info on that, looking into everyone's message it seems you all got to know about name check intiated and it still pending or cleared. please let me know how can I find out about my application.

If you put a little effort yourself and do a search, you find this info easily, I answered this question several times already, last time I did in this thread, just go one page back.

for 60 some pages, it is a bit hard to read all the posts, but hey if it's just a couple of pages back, shouldn't be any problems right?

To find out the status of NC, you need to call (seems you already did that), then visit your local office or Service Center by infopass appointment, call/write to your local congressman or senator is another way of getting to know the status. Of course, last resort will be filing a lawsuit...good luck
 
Name check finally got cleared on March 13

My name check finally got finalized on March 13 per the letter from Mr. Hooton after I wrote to Mrs President. So now after three years of waiting, it is finally done.

My application is spouse of US citizen, and i just had my nc cleared in Feburary, after 2 years, then somehow my file was mistakenly transferred to another state, now i am still waiting for background check to be cleared! How long do we have to wait after the nc is cleared??? is this ever going to be end??? please keep update!

Need suggestions

Hello all,
I have contacted my congressman to expide my namecheck process. This was through my employer. Later my
employer did not bother much to follow it up. After few reminders, I started contacting the congressman's
office directly.It appears that the congressman's office is contacting the USCIS. As one can guess the
standard answer is that USCIS is waiting on FBI.
My question is how to convince my congressman's office that they need to contact FBI not USCIS?

Here are further questions:
1. Can the congressman's office contact FBI directly? or they would contact USCIS and USCIS inturn need
to contact FBI?
2. If Congressman's office need to contact FBI, is there a contact info for congressional enquiries?
3. Is it a good idea to go direct or go thru the employer ( who is not taking interest)?
4. The Congressman's office is walkable distance. Is it a good idea to meet in person? if any of you,
already did this, can you give some tips as to what information I should have with me?
 
Congress office can contact the FBi directly but it wont help much other than finding out the status of your NC which you normally cannot find.
They wont generally request expedite unless you personally know the congressman's staff in which case they will take personal interest and do something for you versus a regular case of constituent OR if you have a complelling reason to show them that you have a genuine case to expedite.
 
Added mine. Do not know exact time when NC was initiated.
USCIS won't reveal that info. June or July -05 was 1st time they replied
that my 485 case is pending on the name check....
So it's probably about 9 months by now..
