S. 1932 Status

Definition:Closed Rule

If that is the case, no amendments possible..?

Definition:Closed Rule
A Closed Rule bans amendments to a bill on the House floor, with the exception of Committee amendments.
Committee amendments are approved in advance by a committee and offered by its chairman or his/her designee

My Guess is that no body will be able to see the debate since it is done under closed rule. (Closed Rule, Two Hours of Debate)

So when will we hear the result. Today is the day?

What is the possibilty that the bill would pass (S.1932)?

At 10:32 A.M. - The Speaker announced that the House do now recess. The next meeting is subject to the call of the Chair. During that time the GOP will work (back door deplomacy) so that they have enough votes to pass the bill today. Hopefully We should hear something in next couple of hours.

So do you think it will pass this stage also?
what will be the next step after passed by the Members of the House

I hope it passess as it is without any changes/ammendment.

Pardon my ignorance

House will take it up probably tomorrow

House postponed the debate, and doing back door diplomacy to win more support for this BILL.
S.1932 immigration provisions will not be added to HR 2431. So our best chance is the conference comittee that combines both bills.
But republicans are very keen to get this bill to President's Desk by thanksgiving.
Either way we are going to know if it's helping us or not in next few weeks.

That is million dollar question. At this point in time we all should pray that the bill passes the house. I would say that I would be happy if the bill passes the house without any amendments. If it doesn't then the whole EB retrogression goes to Toilet.

The fate of the budget bill is uncertain, as no House Democrats were expected to vote for it and several moderate Republicans might defy their leaders. Last night the republicans were working to come up with the changes in the existing bill so that it is passed through the House. The final decision was made to abandoned, at least temporarily, a drive to open Alaska's National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling so that there is a safe passge of this bill.

Corporate Fax Drive

Dear all,

As we are already into the house/senate debate, every effort that
each of us takes will be critical to the outcome of this debate and
subsequent reconciliation/voting process.

We know that in additon to us (as individuals) approaching the
congressmen/senators, push by corporate is equally or more important.
Please note that Corporate America will benefit from a positive
outcome of this bill. 'Corporate America' is the key to the positive
outcome of this proceeding in the Congress.

So, We urge all of you to do the following:
1) join the following: http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe/techworkers

2) Letter Template and the congressmen list have been posted on the
ISNAmerica.org site and the yahoogroups files section. Please
download these letters and take them to your Corporate HR, explain to
them the proceedings in the congress with regards to
tbe bill, convince them to sign the documents. Take the initiative to
fax them on the company's behalf by faxing them through your
corporate fax machine, until we get the feature on isnamerica.org
working.

Please post if you have any questions with regards to this
posting. 'Corporate America' is the key to the positive outcome of
this proceeding in the Congress

Thanks..

Sincerely,
WellWisher

PS: There are 2 files in the 'files' section within the yahoogroups:
File 1: Corporate.Doc/Corporate.pdf (Letter Template)
File 2: Lawmakersgrades.xls (List of congressmen, grading and fax
#s).. This will help you identify which senators to send the fax to,
and their fax #s.

As far as the corporate is concerned, please send the fax only to the
senators/congressmen of the state where the corporate is based or has
offices.

The House is still in recess. Republican leaders still appeared to lack the votes they needed for the budget measure, to pass. The back door diplomacy is still going on.

There are couple of other issues such as provisions curbing Medicaid's growth, tightening eligibility for food stamps and cutting student loan subsidies on which some of the Republicans are not agreeing to.

The Republican leaders are still hoping that they will have enough votes to pass the bill today. Hopefully We should hear something in next couple of hours. STAY TUNED

Good job pdakwala for updating... keep up. Lets all pray that the bill pass without any probs.

I am working on corp.letter

From Arizona

This morning I sent the fax to all the Representatives from Arizona. Hope what we are doing will make a difference. Cheers!

The passage of this bill in House is getting tougher and tougher. Republicans are trying to get enough support so that it passes today. It is decided not matter how late is; if the bill is brought on the floor for the voting they will vote today.

Democrats, however; have decided to vote against no matter what they modify because of few provisions such as medicare cuts, student loan. They are not ready to modify that. Republicans have agreed to remove the Alaska's National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling but still lack enough votes to have the safe passage of this bill.

STAY TUNED for latest update.
