Just read it....Its so absurd. It is 750 pages and it first gives the committe report and then as to what was in the senate bill and the house bill and what was agreed upon but the absurdity is that judiciary comittee stuff is not even mentioned. Thats what i made of it. Can you guys browse through it and throw more light.

Thanks

Judiciary Committee provisions are on page 570 of the PDF. No mention of Green card or H1 or L1 :(

I OCR'ed the whole think but can't get any hit on 8001

gosh this is exciting.
It's more fun than Yuvraj & Kaif bringing victory home India after 87/5 chasing 321..Never mind. I agree with Sunil Joshi we should be prepared for worst.
I am trying to get hold of Sen from NY & I have already requested to schedule an appointment.
I would request to add to SJ's presentation approximation of total Medicaid / SS ,FES & State Tax paid by 600,000 H1 people .
Regards,

well from Oh's website on the summary of the conference report,
the savings attributed to judiciary committee have been assigned to other sources. visa fees have not been cited.
unclear whether these only mean House's visa fees increase have been excluded or both the house and senate's visa fees increases.

from AILA website...

House Adopts Budget Bill Without H-1B and EB Visa Provisions
Cite as "AILA InfoNet Doc. No. 05121966 (posted Dec. 19, 2005)"

Early in the morning of December 19, the House adopted a conference report on the budget reconciliation bill (S. 1932) that did not include the Senate Judiciary Committee provisions that would have recaptured unused H-1B and employment-based visa numbers. The House was also forced to strip its proposal to impose a $1,500 fee increase on L visas from the final bill. Although we are very disappointed that Congress did not take affirmative action to ameliorate the crisis confronting American businesses and universities, at least the House was prevented from imposing the regressive tax on businesses using the L visas that it originally contemplated.

The Senate is scheduled to take up the conference report today, December 19, but Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) threatened on Sunday night to hold up all remaining Senate business in protest of the Republican leadership's attempt to attach Alaska drilling provisions to the defense appropriations bill. We will keep you updated on the budget reconciliation bill's progress in the Senate. If it passes without the provisions for H-1B blackout and retrogression relief, we will begin looking for new options to secure such relief in the new year

FaithinGod : I think 8001 is not included in that .pdf file. There are some pages missing init. Mostly they might have removed and passed the bill or they might have forgot to include in it.

This big suspense is killing all of us. How long should we hold breath !!!

Some one who has good contact with office of conference members should confirm the news about 8001 pleaseeee....

Guys,

Lets not celebrate or fret until we have the report to read.

I talked with a guy in the senate judiciary committee now and he said the report should be out later this afternoon.

The data gathering thread is a good thing. Since we have a qourum these days, we might as well start preparing ourselves for the next steps, assuming the worst. Never hurts to be prepared.

Do we have an expert here about the comprehensive immigration bill? authors/sections/etc etc. We should be on our toes b4 the anti-immigration groups start pounding.

There are more and more pointers that we lost. We of course have to wait / confirm and read the final print. Let's start gearing up in earnest for our next move.

12/19/2005: AILA Has Confirmed that Conference Report Did Not Include 8001

AILA has released information that the S. 1932 which the House passed early this morning did not include visa recapture and H-1B.

IT Friends,
The pdf is a scanned image. So you cannot search or copy paste like the regular pdf. There is a Judiciary section at last and does not mention anything about H1/EB. So we are all scr*** big time. Should fight once again sometime next year.

my take on this!

I read parts of this document (faithingod's) carefully, and it is my understanding (and an optimistic belief) that what you see in here is to be attached to the original S.1932. It also includes those topics which were controversial, which means that some of senate provisions will be eliminated and subsituted by house provisions (pg. 587-588 shows that discussions were held by respective committees on only the disagreed topics).

From http://www.house.gov/budget/summarys1932.pdf it appears that house has worked on its own version of S.1932 which is S.1932.EAH.

Importantly, this is what page 1 says:
1) The senate recede from its diagreement to the amendment by the house and agree to the same with an amendment as follows:
2) In lieu of the matter proposed to be inserted by the house amendment, insert the following:

So, what we see in the conference report is a new modification to the amendment that was originally suggested in S.1932.EAH.

I hope I am correct!

Also, judiciary Title is seen on pg. 570. Does not mention immigration stuff. Please see pg. 580 & pg. 768 for signatures!! Only 2 congressmen have signed - no senators! I am also concerned that parts of this document say Dec,17th, 11:48pm as the reporting time!
