Project "Symphony"

May be I'm not as smart as some of the guys on this forum are but in order to get great response from all the people(at the forum) we need to be very clear about the Plan of action. I had to jump from 1 thread to another to be clear, what to fax and where to fax. If we can be straight forward with 1 thread with subject as "Final POA" with nos. and what to send(content of the mail/fax etc.) I think we can get many people who come here everyday but get lost from navigating from links on every response.
No offence Kashmir and the team, you've done a great job but it won't do justice if the junta just looks at it and whoever understand the whole idea fax's it. Thousands of us should support.

Thanks

Pls use this thread. This might be little heplful.

Thanks Rajiv.

I have gone through the doc and it looks good. We need to add details of requirements in this doc as we progress.

I don’t know how much time will it take to get it ready completely. Can we have item 7 on the document. i.e. “Monitoring Task.” available soon. The efforts of grass root campaign is catching up and some process to monitor the task can help us a lot to spread it fast. We need to monitor the progress district wise.

It is very difficult to manage such efforts on portal, discussion threads as people get lost in threads.

Thanks,

Karma_yoga and kashmir’s visit to congressman Pete Stark’s Office CA–13th district.

On Friday, 15th November, I met Kashmir and then went to congressman Pete Stark’s office at Fremont CA, 13th district. We immediately got attended by congressional aide Candice Martinez. Kashmir earlier attended congressman Stark’s town hall meeting. She remembered Kashmir last visit. We explained her about our portal and petition. Also submitted her the petition copy, 3100 signature copies and copy my letter to congressman’s office. We told her about our campaign and how it is getting replicated in several districts across USA. She seems (at least ) impressed. We also discussed about kashmir’s visit to congresswoman Eshoo’s office.

She inquired about the petition, if it is already in congress or worked on.
We requested congressman Pete’s time for a personal meeting. I told her that there are at least 5-8 volunteers in bay area (different district), that will be interested in joining meeting with congressman Pete.
(bay area, pls. don't let me down.)

We requested her to visit ourt portal and told her that, soon we will be having a website to track progress of our campaign across America. We will be visiting 22nd Nov town hall meeting at Fremont, CA.

It was a very good experience to visit congressman’s office. I am looking forward for meeting with congressman Pete Stark.

It was a very pleasing experience to meet Kashmir in person. He seems to be a very nice person to work with. It was my personal gain of a good friend.

My understanding is,
1 letter/email/fax is worth of 100 verbal opinions.
1 visit to office is worth of 10 letters.
1 meeting with congressperson is worth of 100 letters.

Establishing personal connection with congressperson and office needs as much resources as needed to nurture a good friendship. But at the end you will have a valuable friend. That will be your personal asset. You can leverage it with our immigration issues now, other issues (relate to your country, other interest etc.) later if you wish.

Thanks,

How about Pete Stark Town Meeting ?
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2003
NEWARK
9:00am - 10:00am
Silliman Activity Center
Community Meeting Room
6800 Mowry Avenue
Newark, CA

It's a short notice and Saturday morning,
so it might be difficult for some people, especially person who has a small kid(s).
However, we can arrange another meeting anyway,
so I propose to meet in Newark on 11/22/2003.

It's also a good experience even for another district resident(s) to attend a Congressman's town hall meeting.

Thanks kashmir.

I am fine with meeting bay area members at congressman Pete's office. As bay area residents keeps on moving around, not falling exatly in the same district is ok. Even at congressman Pete's office, Candice welcomed the idea of attending meeting with non district members.

Attending congressman and meeting bay area volunteers on the same day, will be like cream on the cake.

Faxed petition to Senator Bill Nelson, Senator Bob Graham and Representative John Mica to their Washington office and also Mailed copies to their Main district office.:)

karma_yoga, kashmir,

Count me in, could you please post about details of the next Town Hall meeting you plan to attend/meeting with Congressmen/aides. I would like to go along for both if that won't seem like over kill.

Thanks for doing such an upstanding job. It is wonderful to have people actually doing something for a change. It will pull the laggards like me out of their lazy lives and do something about out situation!

Kashmir/Edison/Karma Yoga,

Your efforts are commendable. I 'ld like to contribute my time to this effort. I live in 40th District CA(Fullerton CA). ED Royce is the congressman. I faxed the backlog petitions to CA senetors and the local congressman. Just now I saw congressman's calendar for the town hall meeting(Dec 5th).

Thanks Edison for FAQ.
But I still have the following questions.

- Can you please post the link to the petition so that I can print it.(sorry, I tried using search but so many petitions and its confusing.)
- Is it better to submit the petition to the congressman's office in person or at the townhall meeting.
- Should I request an appoinment for meeting the Congressman.

Please add anyother info that I need to know.

For petition check the links in my signature.
Submit petition to Congressman's office and follow up with him.
Request an appointment for meeting request. It's difficult to get an appointment but if lot of our members request, then there is a chance.

Edison,

If I can submit the petition at the congressman's office directly, then whats the need to attend the townhall meeting. Do you think its better to handover the petition there?

Townhall meeting you get a chance to handover the petition in person to Congressman. Submitting ihn both the places is just to get more attention.

Hi, CS485,
I am very pleased to hear that you would attend Ed Royce's town hall meeting.
Although Edison has already answered your questions,
I'd like to add some comments.

1) I recommend to visit the office as soon as possible with the following documents.
- your cover letter with your signature, name, and residential address (1 page)
(Please mention about "ImmigrationPortal.Com".)
- our petition (8 pages)
- the list of signature if possible
(It is more than 150 pages, but it must be impressive if you can bring it.)
One of staffs would remember you.

2) Then, attend the town hall meeting.
You had better bring the same documents to make it impressed.
The staff should remember you, so you can talk with her.
You may ask her to introduce you to Congressman.
Also, ask a question at the QA session,
and try to talk directly to Congressman after the meeting.
Usually, Congressman will stay there for a while to talk with constituents.

Good luck,
-kashmir

FAQ list for congressional campaign.

I have attended four town hall meetings in San Francisco Bay Area, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th districts.
Usually, it is held on Saturday or weekday's evening.

7. How big is the town hall? How many people attend typically?

In my experience, about 50 people attend,
and a half of them are old people.

Question to kashmir or karma_yoga

When does one get a chance to give the petition. Is it typically after the meeting. Is it one on one with the congressperson or is it with the assistant that you give the petition. Any comments would prepare me as well.
