Congratulations! It is neither good nor bad. It is just one of the updates you get along the way. Now you should wait for them to approve and issue the card.

Hi! I got my asylum case approved one month ago, and I have a few questions:
- When should I apply for a Green Card? Should I apply right away or wait a few months? Did you apply online or mail the I-485 application on paper?
- What is the GC processing time based on your experience?
- Has anyone applied for the travel document (I-131)? Did you apply online or mail it?
I'm located in TX.
Thanks for your help!

Congratulations!

You should apply in such a way that by the time they get to your file, a year has already passed. The process takes a while, so my advice is to check average processing times and then decide when you want to apply. I applied immediately after asylum and was issued a GC in almost 13 months, so I made the right decision not to wait. But, if I am not mistaken, processing times seem to be shorter now, so have that in mind.

You can apply for a refugee travel document. I applied for mine after I received my GC application receipt. It took almost 13 months as well.

I do not think it is possible to do it online unless rules have changed.

I am located in LA

Good luck!

What did they say when you sumbit your inqury? Did they say your case is processing normally? Have you contacted Ombudsman? Have you asked your congressman or representative for assistance?

Hello, this is our case history, it is almost a year and there is still no update. Is one year enough to file a mandamus?

There are many people, including myself, who applied before you and have not received their green cards. It looks like your case is processing normally.
I'm not against a mandamus lawsuit, (I filed Mandamus for my asylum case after 6 yeas of waiting), but it’s generally recommended only after you’ve exhausted all other resources and your case is clearly outside of normal processing times.
I would recommend first following up with USCIS and contacting your congressman. If that doesn’t lead to progress, then consider pursuing a mandamus lawsuit.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or USCIS, recently directed officials to suspend processing of requests for legal permanent residency submitted by immigrants granted refugee or asylum status, according to the sources, who requested anonymity to discuss an action that has not been publicly reported.

The move will, for the time being, place in legal limbo immigrants who were granted refuge in the U.S. because they proved they could be persecuted in their home countries.
