Processing time for green card based on asylum

Im not sure if you read the recent news that published by uscis on website . if you read my statement again ,I said asylee can apply for green card right away and this doesn’t mean that they get green card right away they still have to meet 1 yr stay . The thing that we don’t know and not sure if the cases get processed right a way and preliminary decision would be made but they wont get it until they complete 1 year residency. If that is the case , this could potentially cause delay for the existing cases
I'll ask my lawyer, this sure is exciting news. Thanks for sharing this.

I'm from San Francisco, and my green card case has always been this way
As of October 20, 2020, fingerprints relating to your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status,
It's been more than two years, no progress. Six months ago, I emailed, contacted my district Congressman twice, and they didn't respond to me. Do you have the same problem here? Any friends from the same period? How much longer do I have to wait? thank you

I am in same boat. USCIS received my application dated on Oct 12,2020. After fingerprint relating my case, doesn’t move yet…

It will take up to 1 month to receive your receipt notice and then it will show that your finger print was taken and you don’t need to get finger printed again if they have one in their data base . The processing time is unpredictable and it takes anytime between 45 days to +2yrs but hopefully you will get processed within 6months .im not sure if uscis new policy will delay the processing time or not since people can apply for green card right away and no need to wait for 1year policy
Thank you for the detailed response. Yes, the new policy is confusing and not sure if it will help the processing times for the existing applications. It would be the best for existing and future applicants, if they just put the asylum grant date as the permanent residency start date and start counting from there towards 5 years requirement for naturalization.
Hello, Alex1010, asylee2022, Do you notice there is a sentence in the new residency requirement of asylee 485 application: "This applies to all Form I-485 and Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, applications pending on Feb. 2, 2023". Just as asylee2022 metioned, would the 5 years residency requirement for naturalization be counted from the asylum granted day to USCIS officer adjudication date in future? I‘m interested in why they mentioned the N-400 application in this policy change.

Good point . This is something that I’m not sure and I agree with you , it’s very confusing ! But I think it means when you apply for citizenship N-400 , you should prove that you met 1 year residency befor getting green card . Let’s say they will check your approval date and then they check the date on your green card to see if your green card has been issued at least 1 yr after your asylum approval (assume you did not leave the us otherwise you have to add xx days that you were outside to your 1yr )

I sent a request that my case was taking longer than the processing time on December 1, 2022. All this time it was showing as not assigned for processing and on February 9, 2023 it changed to "your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number SR...MSC, was completed."
No correspondence was received. Previously such inquiries were answered by email and there was a status like "reply has been sent". Now it's just "completed".
I hope this is a good sign.

I got mine last October. I don't think it's a good idea for me to send my AOS now cause some people are getting approvals in three months. And I won't have one year of presence as asylee.
Any context on people being approved in 3 months ? please

Thanks for your reply. It's truly confusing. See if there are any new policies coming out from UCSIS in future.

Hi @vipuser , can you please share what tracker you used to check the status of your service request? been waiting since November 2020, and have filed multiple requests but always had to call to USCIS to get the update. thank you!

Can anyone confirm this?

If you are between the age of 18-64, the ONLY vaccines that are required off you are:
1) Td/tdap
2) MMR
3) Hepatitis B
4) Varicella
5) Influenza
6) COVID-19

Can you do the blood test for Tuberculosis, Syphilis, and Gonorrhea with you private primary care physician, or these NEED to be performed by the civil surgeon? (I am trying to save cost as much as possible (I have health insurance), and be ready at the time of the appointment with the civil surgeon so he does not need to test for anything or only needs to fill out the form).

Thanks!

Yes , that is correct , but make sure that the Gonorrhea is within 30 days of your appointment with the civil surgeon .

Hey,
I can see all these updates in my account on http://egov.uscis.gov. You can create an account and just add your cases to it by entering receipt numbers.
