To

    Shri G.Mathi Vathanan I.A.S.,
    Regional Passport Officer,
    Regional Passport office, Chennai.

        Dear Sir,

Sub: Request for clearance of PCC.
                Reference No:
Fax sent by Indian embassy, Chicago on 02-January-2002
Remainder sent by Indian embassy, Chicago on 14-January-2002.

I have applied for PCC in Indian embassy in Chicago, in last month. They sent a fax to regional passport office in Chennai for clearance on 02-January-2002. They again sent a remainder on 14-January-2002. I have an urgent requirement and will greatly appreciate if you could reply by fax to the Indian consulate’s request. I have no relatives or friends in Chennai to come and contact personally. I kindly request you to consider my request through fax.

Thanking you sir,

                                                Sincerely,

Reference no?

Call your consulate where you applied for your PCC and find out the
reference number. This is how your case is tracked. For chicago ( may
be for all consulates ), it is of the form

CHIC/CONS/PCC/Xnn/nn
Xnn/nn are variables and vary according to your name and year of
apply.

When you talk to RPO, you need this number, your passport number
and your name.

Best.

That is true GC Despo.

You are correct. I think PCC can be pursued within one week. I started
following up on 15th Jan and by 17th Jan consulate received reply by
fax. Chennai RPO even replied to my e-mail saying "Your PCC has been
faxed on so and so date and time".

Best.

Gandalf, talk to Indian Consulate for reference number

Yes, I have got my reference number and I\'m trying to send someone to RPO B\'lore to expedite the process

Acehart

where is ure CGI office? IS it NY?
bcoz this damn CGNY never answers the phone.
Can u suggest the time

Indiacgny does not issue pcc before 30 days even if the process is complete

Santha,

Did the Indian Consulate in New York actually issue the PCC ? Well, my PCC was faxed to Bangalore Passport office on 3 Jan . I had somebody fax the clearance from Bangalore on 10th January. They gave me a confirmation number too. But Indian Consulate denies they received the clearance. They say they can\'t give it to me before 3 Feb.

Please let me know if you received the clearance.

GC Despo

I belong to Chicago Consulate, so do not know much about CGNY. I know gabbar got his PCC done from CGNY and may be able to answer your question

Do not know.

I am not from NY. I do not have any experience with them. But there
is no logic in that. They are just harassing people. If you are sure
that they have received your clearance from RPO, then you should take
up the issue with higher authorities. Write a letter to consulate
general.

Best.

My Details

PCC applied at Chicago - Dec 3rd
Passport office - Hyderabad

Found out that Chicago Indian Consulate has not received any response from passport office in Hyderabad. They suggested that I ask someone in india to nudge some people in hyderabad to get some results!
I am planning on troubling my dad for the same. I hope things will get cleared soon.
