Please Add it to the Excel

Hi all

Please do add all information to the excel file..so that it will be easy for all of us to track the info in one place..and we will have an approximate idea..when will our lucky day arrive!:)

Does anyone have any input on this??

I have applied for I-140/I-485/I-765/I-131 for myself and my wife concurrently in Oct 2003. We rec'd our EAD in Feb. 2004. But we haven't rec'd AP yet. Now my wife is in India and we have an H-1B ext. till Sep 2006. What I learned from this forum is that you have to be physically present in the US when ur Ap is approved or else the AP is void. Is this true? Does that mean my wife AP will not be approved? Has anyone had a similar experience? Because I need my wife to come here on AP rather than apply for H-4 ext. in Mumbai consulate as I was reading thru that forum now-a-days its a nightmare to go for ext. They can ask u for anything like get all the pay stubs etc. etc.
Pl share ur experience is anyone has been out of US when AP was approved and used the AP to re-enter US.

Thanks in advance

I do not know anything about AP not being approved if one is out of country. But I do know that it is not a nightmare to get an H4 extension from Bombay consulate. Once you carry the required documents, things go smoothly.

I am telling you this from my own personal experience this year in January 2004 when I went to get my H4 stamped.

thanks for replying badabing.
can u please give me little more input on H-4 stamping at mumbai consulate? did u go for drop box or personal interview and what documents did u carry. what i heard is personal interview is better as its faster but since my wife has an extension and she already has 1st H-4 stamp on passport, she can qualify for drop-box. your early response is really appreciated.

thanks

Well, I went through the interview process and I took the appointment online. If your wife is in Bombay, she can visit US visa-services office in Bombay and take the appointment. The documents that I took were I-539 approval notice, my husband's H1 approval notice, marriage certifcate, bank drafts and photographs.

I would suggest that you visit the following website to get information about all the documents to be carried along.

http://www.visa-services.com/usa/working-HL.html

The only question that I was asked is that how long have I been married.

Hope this helps.

thanks for replying. one last question
was this the 1st time for H-4 visa? if not, was there any reason for not going thru drop-box?
i am suggesting my wife to apply thru drop-box as she already has previous H-4 stamped in her passport.

thanks

No, this was my second time. I am not a resident of Bombay and hence I did not try the drop-box. But your wife can try drop-box as this is her second time too.

Re: Sample Letter Please

r u going for H-1 visa stamping or u have a valid visa?

u can just get a letter from employer stating that u r employed with them from such and such date and u r going out for a vacation and returning back to work on this date. add ur job responsibilities and ur current salary. if u are going for H-1B stamping in the consulate in ur home country then there are lot of other documents u need to carry.
