Another query

I had mentioned earlier that I reside in CO but my company files all cases in CA so I have my application in CA.
Kashmir had suggested that I send my Petition to the CO senators and Reps. I have just got all the address's and numbers together and am getting ready to fax this stuff out.
I just had a question :
My RD is 10/22/02 (so filed just over a year) and thus there is not so much I can complain about with the dates still at 12/01.

So am I still okay with sending the petition? (reading though the petition it seems quite generic).
I guess I can't put any personal concerns in there.

I filed in mid 2003. It is ok. We want attention to this generic issue. If not attended now, that 1 year you are waiting waiting for you will get extended to may be 2 years more minimum, as per the statistics available at this time.

Hi, zipzap,
Even if your RD is 10/22/2002, the current slow pace should affect your case a lot,
because it would take more than 10 years if this slow pace would continue.
I believe everyone should complain against the current slow pace.

Also, your application has been pending for a year,
and according to Immigration Services and Infrastructure Improvements Act of 2000, the period of time in excess of 180 days is backlog.

Just wanted to reiterate what people above have said, you are not asking for personal relief, instead you are trying to throw light on a bad situation. You are trying to solve a problem, which has already affected you and will continue to affect you until something changes. You are being the CATALYST to that change by requesting the senators to do something about the situation.

You don't have to follow the wordings on the petition to the letter. Feel free to modify it! (I did, can send you my copy) I don't believe that it should be a form letter/fax in any case. The more varied the letters, the more likely the situation will be addressed. If all the letters are the same it looks as if one person is doing all the mailing. So I urge you to put things in your own words using Kashmir's text as a base!

Hi All,

I just registered to the forum so I guess I'm the newest member for now. I've decided to join forces with you since I'm on the same boat. My AOS petition has been pending for more than 20 months (RD 01-14-02). Me and my wife are on our 2nd EAD (Just applied for the 3rd one) and 2nd AP.

The work you guys are doing is great, so I've decided to add my 2 sents, so I just sent the fax and my own cover letter to the 2 numbers provided by Kashmir.

I'll be around and wish you all luck!

Talked to Ms. Julia Lee at Barbara Boxer Washington DC office again on 11/19/2003

I have just called to Ms. Julia Lee,
and she told me
1) our document was forwarded to Tim Haugh, Acting Director, Congressional Relations, USCIS, DHS last week.
2) she and I should receive some response maybe in two weeks.
I will let you know once I get some information.

She promised to read them at first.
I emphasized the followings:
1) only EB I-485 backlog has been significantly growing recently
2) to need to talk to the CSC Director

When I mentioned about the backlog at the CSC, she told that she had heard it from ONE person before.
So, I am 2ND person to claim the backlog at the CSC directly to her.

Sent certified mail on Tuesday 11/18 to BB, DF, Tom Lantos(12th Distt).

Thanks to all of you(Kashmir, Edison, 140 takes and the whole team..........) for doing such a great effort for us. I'd request all of you who visit this forum to please support this effort otherwise we all be sitting and waiting and expecting a miracle would happen and Santa would come on Christmas to distribute the plastic cards. Just a handful of mails/faxes/mails received by Senators & Congressman won't shake the system so please

I'm writing to request information about the back-log of the employment based I-485 Adjustment of Status applications.

As you know, the California Service Center has virtually stopped adjudicating these applications in the past two years and it is just now slowly beginning to review these cases again. Your office is currently adjudicating applications that were received on December 16, 2001 and earlier. This is after being frozen at the adjudication date of 11/16/2001 since January of 2002.

I have many constituents approaching me in frustration as to why these applications are moving at such a slow pace and when more resources will be allocated to adjudicating them. It would be very helpful for me in attempting to answer their questions if you would address this issue with detailed response. As you can imagine, this delay is causing hardship and anxiety to many families awaiting a decision.

Thank you for your time and attention to my request and I look forward to your timely response.

I had a phone call from Ms. Bernardette Arellano at MIke Honda's office (maybe in Campbell ? it was 408-...) ten minutes ago.
She told me that Mike Honda would forward our request to Don Neufeld, Director of CSC.
I asked her to send me a copy of Congressman's letter.

great. that is what I was told yesterday. they also have sent some letter which i have not yet received.

I just registered to the forum. I was trying to fax the petion with my own cover letter to Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein. The fax number on their webpage (415-956-6701, 202-228-3954) doesn't seem to work. Any of you guys no of a fax number that works?
