Hello,

Where did you get this news from ? its just a rumors or you know someone who got it from July ?

Did any one called NY SESA and asked how many file cabinets are left.

Till these file cabinets are emptied, nothing is going to happen !!

FYI: from another thread

Hi Akhand,

Senate Approved Omnibus Budget Appropriation Bill and On its Way to President for Signature

The Senate approved the budget appropriation bill which the immigrant community has a stake in with reference to the timeline of the PERM new labor certification launch. The President is expected to sign the bill quickly. The availability of the appropriation will allow the Department of Labor initiate rule making process of the PERM regulation. Once the rule is forwarded to OMB for their review from 30 days to 90 days, the DOL will be able to publish the PERM regulation with the 120-day lead time. The employers will be able to use this 120-day lead time to engage in the recruitment campaign following the standards and requirements for recruiment under the PERM regulation, and will be able to file the applications as soon as the DOL start accepting the PERM applications after 120 days of publishing of the rule. At that point, the DOL will cease to taking any new cases of the current labor certification application including RIR or regular cases.

Thanks ahalem for the update. Do you know anything about backlog reduction appropriation, did it get thru?

Look!!! Non-RIR are in Mar/2001 already?

Isn't that great? Since this thread started (about one year ago) non-RIR moved from Oct 98 to Mar 01!! Please refresh my memory if that is not the case...

Let me guess what is happening ... hmmmmmmm... Let me expeculate...

The pseudo-workers at DOL-NY are processing the 04/01 illegals ahead of us miserables H1B RIR! Well....

Bad news is... THAT SUCKS!
Good news is.... I think they will not try to put non-RIR AHEAD of RIR... or maybe?... I am not sure anymore...

DOL> Is anybody in there????

(remember? The Wall?)

Hi jjsxbr,

1. most of the cases in NY state are filed as RIR , I remember my lawyer 3 years ago when he told me , the None RIR is very rare in state like NY or in economy like that.

2. The none RIR cases moved to March 2001 since long time , almost 9 months ago so its not a surprise.

question

Guys,

If you don't mind answering question outside the circle of NY DOL

Are you aware with any law changes regarding entering Canada for less then 30 days, for example:
- Would I need to stamp new I-94 when I enter the USA back from Canada?
- Also would they take my finger print and picture due to the new program: US-Visit ?
- Is there any issues with Driving to/from canada comparing to travel by air ?

NOT EXPERT ADVICE - but I just went/returned from Canada earlier this year.

I did not require a new I-94 when I came back.
They did not fingerprint me, I think this has only been implemented at airports, which goes to your last question.
I have always found it easier to travel by land than by air.

Hope that helps

Approval from NY

Folks,

One of my friends got his LC Approved from NY. His application was sent sometime in 2nd week of Aug 2001 . I am wondering if his is a freak case or something else because all the boards still show April 2001 as the date. Was wondering if anybody else had heard of approvals from NY. Any info is highly appreciated.

not so optimistic anymore

I recently asked my lawyer about my LC (May 2001) and he responded today with a suggestion to call him back in 6 months...

Usually he was asking me to call back in 3 months - so either something (ungood) is happening in NY LC or he got tired of my requests and his always the same response (nothing yet...)

I don't trust the lawyers any more , I think he is trying to keep you quite for the next 6 months, The only trustable resource will be the NY DOL office, and their new number system: cabinets and shelves instead of the decimal or binary system we usually use.

So
5 cabinets = 5 months
4 cabinets = 4 months while
3 cabinets , 2 shelves = 3 months and 2 weeks

What a life, did any one call them lately to check on the cabinets status?

i spoke to DOL SESA yesterday..the lady told me that they are recruiting some contractors for completing this backlogs..but they dont have enough money...so talks are going on with Dept..
once they finailse..they'll start ASAP
she told me to call after couple of weeks for any update...
