thanks akhand,hkond and ahalem
your putting lot of info here in this thread..keep it up people..
so hopefully those PWC people will help us to get of this burden in the future..

this gives some clear picture thru the site..thanks for the input you have given hkond...

Wait !!!

Ok guys,

Let me make sure we all understand...

The PWC document was prepared in early 2002. The recommendation was to hire contractors. They did nothing related to developing PERM.

As a result of this, they did the RFP that I mentioned with the two processing centers. RFP due back Dec 12, 2003. I expect they will be operational Apr-May 2004.

I doubt they are training, the company has not be chosen so who could they be training....

No, they will not wait until all backlog is processed before PERM is implemented. They still say they will release final regulations this year and implement Apr-May 2004. They explicitly say in answers to questions to the RFP that even when PERM is approved RIR cases will need to be processed based on original process (unless you choose to convert)

The pilot, random (about 1,000) cases were pulled last year, this is the Maryland center that will be shutting down.

As to the cases that are seemed to be getting reviewed (we have seen May, June and I think even a December) may be additional cases of the pilot - those that are hearing back should be able to tell if this is the case. This pilot has combined the SWA and DOL process into one. This could also be that some staff are in fact being asked to work on other cases (THIS IS PURE SPECULATION ON MY PART)...

For more details about the pilot project : http://www.murthy.com/ukdol.html

That was published in Nov 2002 by Murthy.com before implementing the pilot and as Justwatching mentioned above It might be new cases selected randomly since some approval or rejection from DEC 2001, so its not in order.

This is nuts

Guys, I had called NYDOL on Friday and the lady confirmed that the processing of April'30 may take another 8-10 months at the current pace... god knows if they will even finish by the end of 2004.

This is NUTS !!

then we'll start our process to post the petition on that site man
we wont waste time this time..please start ahalem,justwatching..
we'll do from today itself..
what you people think???
yes really sankat_mochan its nuts man..8 months if we want to wait is unbearing to everyone man...we have to do something so that those guys in labor dept knows our concerns..

I know how that is frustrating for all of us, but lets keep in our mind few points:

1. These numbers from the Labor department is on personal basis , not an official numbers, I mean some employee might had fight with her husband this morning or did not have her coffee and she is in bad mood and she can say what ever she wants since there is no official statement from the department of labor about the deadlines.

2. Even if the 8 months or End of 2004 is the correct estimate, The following link http://www.murthy.com/uklabupd.html says ( also its not official ) that things are moving to speed up this process.

3. As far as I saw in the last few weeks, the petition and letter might help but lets not put allot of hopes on it until it make difference.

that great ahalem..thanks for your kind words ..it gives some relief man..we'll go forward...as per murthy.com..i already mentioned in our thread it mat take few more months to start those 2 places..and i dont know NY is the first priority state to consider the fast process...if they take NY first then may be we'll get early orelse no time....dont know....
keep our faith people....

I would bet a dollar...

I would bet they will start with NY,

It does not seem like they have defined a process of how they will move cases to the centralized centers however, I did see that their intention was to process in order of receipt date.

This leads me to believe (I AM SPECULATING) that they are going to try to even out the states in terms of dates of backlog.

Only three states remain in April 2001 - RIR . In fact only 6 states remain in 2001 - RIR processing. 9 states in 2002 - RIR, all other states are in 2003.

Seems pretty obvious were they are going to start doesn't it? Or at least I hope it seems obvious...

until spring 2004

My friend called NY DOL just now and the lady says april 2001 will take until spring 2004.

I don't know why sankat_mochan is saying 8-10 months.

its okay sara2003..whatever is there its okay..we waited this long for completion of april 2001.if it take more than spring 2004 then what???
we have to eait..its part of our life ....hope everything will be going on fast as far as NY concern...
thanks justwatching for your valuable calculations...hope they take NY first man...suppose if they take NY and our labors cleared early then aap ke moo mee ghee shakkar...

Re: I would bet a dollar...

I'll add a little more to my analysis here...just to make us all feel a little better.

First, a correction - 7 states in 2001, 10 states in 2002.

31 states were RIR takes less than six months to process. They can forget about getting help! Which begs the question, what the &%# are we doing in NY?...sorry couldn't resist

Bottomline, I think it's a pretty safe bet that NY will be one of the first. I raise my bet to $5.

Hang in there...
