Interview Letter

Hello Friends,
Finally, today I received letter from USCIS regarding my 485 interview,
My case was transferred to NYC local regional office on 2004 June.
My finger print date is 2nd of November and interview date is 9th of November.
I need all of your help or input,
What are the precaution I should take, such as documents I should collect for interview and any other information I can gather before interview.
Also My wife and my daughter she is 22 now. When applied she was 17. Do I have to bring with them also or they will receive separate interview letter.
Thanks in advance.

There is a lot of information on this forum related with 'Case transfer". Please read all carefully, that will help a lot.
If your wife and daughter received the same letter, then you must take them with you. Let immigration Officer to decide to whome s/he interviews with.

What is the detail of your case, like...

Today , Nov 2, case status for dependent got updated to following, nothing on primary.

Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

Current Status:

On November 2, 2005, your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status was received here for processing. It is taking between 365 and 540 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete.

Do u think this shows some light, is this message from NYC or Vermont am totally confused.

Any insight would be helpful

Thanks
Tasneem

Hey Tasneeman

It just means that they received the case for processing and you have to wait for a long long time, But you never know, If you get lucky anything can happen..... It is the USCIS, you never know!!! you might hit a jackpot of an interview date very soon..

To Newyorker

Hi Newyorker,

but how come the status was updated for the secondary and not the primary. As far as i understand the status does not get updated at the local office, does this mean my case has gone back to vermont???

I am really confused. The case originally was transfered 1 yr back, why this update now. I have actually gone to the NYC, got my EAD, did status inquiry and they had my case for all this time.

Can u say if my case now is at NYC or at vermont, the message is really not saying anything.

Thanks
Tasneem

Most likely your case is in New York. There is no reason for them to send it back to Vermont. I also got the same messages as you and was confused a bit. That's why I checked in with the local office to confirm that the case is with them.

wife got interview letter

case info:
PD 10/23/2003 I140/I485 filing EB1
12/2004 I140 approved
12/2004 I485 Transfered to NYC (for me and my wife)
11/2005 Only my wife received interview letter.
but I (the primary applicant) haven't got the letter.

The letter ask her to bring:
1. Medical exam (I693) -form attached

2. Evidence of Financial support: Job letter with position, salary, length of employment, pay statement for last 2 months, current and previous year income tax returns and W2's. Bank letter showing date opened and balance.

3. Affidavit of support (I864) - form attached

4. If you are being petitioned for by your spouse, bring every item mentioned on the attachment titled
"adjustment of status(Spouse Cases)." Your spouse must appear with you.

5. Bring the original of any documents for which you have submitted photocopy when filing your application.

I need help on some questions:

1. Income tax returns and W2's : where do I get the income tax return? are they the copies of 1040 I filed? or do I get it from IRS ( and how to get it) ?

2. Affidavit of support (I864): Am I the sponsor for my wife? or as some posts suggested, that we need to find some american citizen to support us?

3. Regarding the item 4 above, we found there is no "attachment titled "adjustent of status(Spouse Cases)." in the letter. Do anyone know what does that refers to?
Or, maybe, everything listed in this letter IS for Spouse Case.

4. Regarding the item 5 above, bring the original document for application, does that refers only to I485 application, or all the I140/I485 application?

5. Does it look strange that my wife get interview first? what decision can they make without my case getting result first?

Thanks...a lot.

it's good news that you got the letter for interview. take an infopass and inquire what happened to your letter. the itnerviews should be done together. most likely your letter was lost in the mail.

First of all - do you have an attorney? If you do try to get answers to your questions from them. If you do not, then this forum should help you.

for the tax returns i beleive most people bring copies of their 1040s. You do not need addidavit of support from a US citizen.

Can you share your PD so we can get an idea what interviews they are scheduling now?

Is it possible...

that file gets transferred back to Vermont ?

My file was transferred to NYC in June 2004. Now it is transferred back to Vermont. Is this possible?

Congratulations for the interview letter.

I have few suggestions.

Although its not required but you must redo medicals if previous is more than 1 year old (I was asked in the interview for new one).

Take copies of 1040's and W2's.

2 pictures.

I-94

Copies of your old and new passport with visa stamp.

They didn't interview my wife as she didn't receive the interview letter. Now her case is transferred back to vermont. No change in online status though.

Akbari, yes it is possible. I think that this is good news. I think you have much more control over your case when it is in Vermont than when it is in the local office.

How did you find out that it was sent back?

Wa2Long,

Any idea why the case was transferred back to VSC???

I had no idea that this is a possibility at all. In my view, cases are always reviewed together and your comment threw me on a loop.

On the other hand, at this stage nothing can surprise me.

Thank you for reply. Through a contact in comp. dept.

gc2005nyc,

I don't know if my assumption is correct. Since my case is approvable may be my wife doesn't need an interview anymore and they transferred it back to Vermont (I don't know where my file is :) ).

Akbari, How did you find out about your file ?. Any change in online message ?
