same here newyorker012. Well, it seems to have started well. One more day being alive. Isn't it great? It is feeling great... Being alive and healthy is the best thing one can have....

No Postal delivery

I believe there is no postal delivery after 15th december in my area. That's why I am not getting my approval :)

Still waiting everyday to see that I am also approved. Johar I am felt bad that you didn't get approved there itself. I am really disappointed to see lot of people wait and then see a ray of hope and then wait again.

It's like the weather in Northeast.

it is a hard thing to go through. It is like being really thirsty and had given up on water but the suddenly someone shows you a clean cold bottle full of water and sya here take it and then take it away form you and say "NO". You do not deserve that. My case was dead for the last 3.5 years and I had no probelm at all. I started a normal life and was not even thinking about it. I had no thoughts no worries and lived like a normal person but then one day I got a letter and to my surprise my case was transferred to local INS. suddenly within month got figer printed adn to my surprise received interview notice and then nothing happened... WHAT A LIFE. I wish they would have ended the wait. I wanted any decission approval or denial but one not the waite but I guess this what is best for me... I wrote too much since I just wanted to share what it is and how it feels like but stronger do live and survive and do not care. I will move on and will get over this as well. "The hunters only enjoy the meat when they struggle for it" Thanks coldfusion and hope you will get your soon and I will get mine and others will get their turn and approval soon.

BTW: Anyone on this forum waiting on name check or had been through a situation like mine adn how long did it take in the end... Will appreciate ..

I have been a long time visitor on this site, and having just had my NYC interview, wanted to post my experiences.

I am EB3. Received my I-140 approval notice on Oct 24, 2001. Filed my I-485 in Dec 2001 as well as EAD application. My file went through the Vermont Service Center and I received my first fingerprint notice in Jan 2002.
Also received my first EAD in Jan 2002

Heard nothing from Vermont either online or thru the automated voicemail, until May 2003, when they sent me an RFE because one of my medical forms was missing some info.

Completed the missing section and sent it back.

In June 2003 the online message advised me that the file had been transferred to NYC for an interview. There was no reason given for the interview requirement, but I have read on this board several times that if you paid the 245-I penalty fee your case was likely to be sent to the local office for interview (even after my interview, I still have no idea why my case was selected for an interview)

In October I received a request for a second fingerprinting, and in the same envelope, an interview date in December

Went to Federal Plaza on the date of the interview. On the advice of my lawyer, I took the following paperwork:
Copies of last 3 years of tax returns
2" x 2" photos
EAD Card
Copy of my birth certificate
Passport
Copies of 2 most recent pay stubs
Copies of my most recent bank statement
Letter from my employer stating my current salary, years that I had worked there, # of dependents and a contact number. I also had a letter from my employer stating that upon receipt of Permanent Resident Status I would be paid the salary certified by the Dept of Labor, for my position (since my current salary did not match the DOL certified salary). The letter also listed my job title.
To be safe, I took along originals as well as the copies

When you arrive at Federal Plaza you have to present your appointment letter to get in the door.

In the waiting room, they take your appointment letter and have you sign a blank form and also fingerprint it, front and back.

You then take a seat until they call your name - I waited approx 1 hour after my scheduled time.

When they call your name you go to a side door where your Immigration Examiner meets you with your file and then leads you to his/her office.

The examiner then swears you in. In my case the examiner asked me the following:

Had I ever been arrested
Had I ever had any trouble with Immigration
When did I enter the country
What was my current address

He then asked me for copies of my tax returns, employment letter, photos and EAD card and passport.

Then he copied down a number from his computer, stamped my passport and signed it, gave it back to me and told me that the card would be mailed to me within a year.

The entire "interview" took at most 30 minutes, and most of that time was spent typing at his conputer.

Hope this is helpful.

Good Luck!
this shows that my name should have also been completed. Look at minicab he barely had his finger prints done and was approved... Now I do not know what to make of my case

Hey Johar

I am wondering y is your name check taking too much time.... Hmmmmm

Are you a fugitive ???? hehehe Just kidding yaar to make you laugh a little

thanks newyorker for being around. It feels like this site is dead. I mailed many peole today just to get something back but no one even responded to my emails. I had emailed one place like two months ago but no answer. There is a complete silence in my world which is a good thing. This is a good system for fugitive then if it takes longer for fugitives. They can roam around for a long log time since the background will check longer....

hi johar
a friend of mine works for nyc local office he told me that the name check expiers every 90 days and they have to rerun the whole name check prcess again.
so for some unlucky ones by the time their interview call comes the name check must have expired and he also told me as soon as they recieve the clearance they mail out the approval letter
so johar " sabar ka phal meetha hota hai"
what is with this emailing stuff joharbhai?

it means the post man is not responding (clear in coldfusion mail) and other people as well. Meaning the doors are open but no one even knocks... Cheers

Thanks sriss: I had interview done in St. Louis. I have called on the phone number listed in the earlier posts and got this email you mentioned for the fbi. FBI is not accepting or I should say not answering that phone number anymore. By the way, how did you know it is taking 10 weeks to respond to emails. I am sure the name check should take less than 10 weeks. If I get finger prints from a police station and mail it in myself it takes 9 weeks to get the background check results sice I had done it in August so why is then this name check taking so long. Anyway, thanks and please keep me posted.. I will post my details as well.
One more question: What is your last FP date please?
Thanks

Hey guys, I got a question: My EAD is going to expire on 05/05/05 had my interview done on 01/07/04 and figer prints done on 11/016/04. Approval pending for name check/background check. Should I start the EAD renewal process? Thanks

Hi Johar, I think you should apply by Jan. end, and as NY-NIW said that may trigger approval too..

All the best.

Several friends of mine got their I-485 approvals shortly after they file their EAD or AP renewal. I am also going to renew my EAD although I am using my H1b. My EAD will expire next month.
