There is still hope! Best Luck!
I had sent my passport to St. Louis during first week of Dec 01 and the first withdraw request during first week of Jan 02...and two more requests after that and numerous phonecalls. My withdraw application was finally processed yesterday and I received my passport today.
Your best bet is to withdraw it and call them back as many times as you can and bug them everyday. Most of them are NOT helpful but sometimes you get someone who can help. They claim they need 15 days to process a withdraw so I would send one right away. To be safe send it again a day later.
Your Last Option (if you have to get to India in time for Wedding. I was in the same boat and found out about this from my meeting with the vice consular): Goto an Indian Consulate and make an appointment with the Vice Consular. They can issue you a Emergency Travel Document which allows you to travel back to India but you cannot return based on that as they have to cancel you current passport in their system. Once you are in India you have to apply for a new passport and visa. Hopefully, In the mean time your revalidation application gets processed and someone from USA can Fedex you the original documents in India so you can apply for the visa in India. You can also have someone send you revalidated passport to India then you won\'t need to get a new visa even if the passport is cancelled. FYI: Sending the passport overseas is considered illegal. Also Please consult with your lawyer and confirm with the India Consulate as well.
