Mass RFEs?

It is just like those who are done with interview but before oath all got their
online status to "An interview will be scheduled". Right now there are 3 and only 3 distinct online status

(1) Receied status ==for those who have not got FP yet and for those
who completed oath already
(2) This RFE status = = Those who are done with FP but not got IL yet
(This status was creeated today by USCIS)
(3) A interview wil be scheudled status == for those who got IL and not oath
yet
(This status was created Last Saturday)

I predict the next status USCIS will create are "oath has been scheduled"
for those who got oath letter regardless wthether they have taken oath yet nor not)

Not for me. My status still shows (1)

Today (8/13/2009) I did my FP and 2 hours after my fingerprinting I got the same issue. An email saying the following:

"Application Type: N400 , APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION

Current Status: Request for Additional Evidence Sent

On July 29, 2009, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, call 1-800-375-5283 to update your address."

But I have not received anything in the mail as of now. Has anyone confirmed with USCIS.gov that it is a glitch?

I surely hope it is :)

My status is Case Received and Pending but I have already gotten my IL. Should I worry about i? I assume it's just USCIS didn't update the data.

Here we are joining the gang!!!

Guys,

We got similar Emails too!

"On July 29, 2009, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence"

It's August 14, and no sign of RFE in the mail so far

I hope it's a system error, as lot of people's status changed to RFE at the same time!

Just curious - is this information your inference or based some knowledge of USCIS status changes? I am trying to understand

1. How does this RFE status different than normal RFE status, where USCIS had genuinely asked for evidence?
2. A regular RFE has a life of its own - Either a human changes to status to RFE Received or after 120 days or so, it goes into NIOD. This doesn't seem applicable in this scenario.
3. People who haven't had FP have also had status changed. So your (2) isn't entirely correct.

Could be...

After I read about stataus updates - 'Case transfered to local DO...' on this forum, I tried to check my application status and I was not able to open the USCIS homepage.
I don't remember how (or if I googled) but I remember getting this message (below).
I just googled 'USCIS next 90 days' again now got this(below): Could be there are in a process of updating the website.
http://www.uscis.gov/USCIS/SCOPS Update Final0810.pdf

The USCIS website is scheduled for a facelift:

"In the next 90 days, USCIS will launch a vastly improved Web site that will, for the first time ever, allow applicants to get updates on their status of their applications via e-mail and text message and online. And anybody who's dealt with families who are trying to deal with -- navigate the immigration system, this is going to save them huge amounts of time standing in line, waiting around, making phone calls, being put on hold."

My commnets are based upon what case status people got and their true status. I may not have enough data but still it shows a pattern

1. How does this RFE status different than normal RFE status, where USCIS had genuinely asked for evidence?
2. A regular RFE has a life of its own - Either a human changes to status to RFE Received or after 120 days or so, it goes into NIOD. This doesn't seem applicable in this scenario.

USCIS don't want to be too specific. They may want to clusters dozens of status into just a few.

3. People who haven't had FP have also had status changed. So your (2) isn't entirely correct.

Maybe their FP npotice is already sent or being sent and they just have not go t it yet

What exactly is the point in trying to decipher what an unreliable online status system message means other then making applicants worry too much about nothing.

Happened to us too

Happened to us too. Enquiries on our case numbers for me and my wife have the following info

Current Status: Request for Additional Evidence Sent

On August 11, 2009, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. Oh joy . I am pretty sure its just the fp notice that got sent out. I think someone did some sloppy regression testing while releasing a new feature/patch to the USCIS website. :p

Or could it be that with a new director being sworn in

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=d7a83282d9f03210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=68439c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

The new boss is implementing new policies and requesting new info (let the conspiracy theories begin :) ). Only time will tell.

But seriously I like every one else am a tiny bit worried and am just trying to bring some levity into the boards. My first reaction when I saw the RFE request was, "Why me? Why Now?" as in looking around the boards till y'day it was pretty smooth sailing and fast timelines for quite a while now and now this happens just when I apply. Especially since you do tend to think twice before travelling outside the country when ever you have stuff pending with the USCIS (or the old INS).

But then when I think about all the agonies that I went through during the GC process and how all those concerns seem so minor now and then sanity returns (not to mention that I see that there are a whole bunch of RFEs being sent out and I am not alone ;-) ). Any way this is just some happening that you will (fondly?) remember when all is done with the process.

As I was looking at some of the posts during my GC process 5+ years after I posted them, they are like photographs of my life and my journey in this country. Some posts were silly ( I even got flamed), some were anxious, some sounded preachy (aka know it all), some pedantic (this post might fall in that category but WTH). But they brought back some fond memories. Any way enough ranting on my side. Enjoy.

N-400 Issue - Please help

I am a naturalized citizen.

We filed for my wifes N-400 on July 23, 2009 on basis of 5 yrs continuous presence after GC. We realized that there was a typo error in our marriage date on N-400 after the application was submitted.

We received FP notice dated Aug 5 (I-797C) on Aug 7.

However, the online system as of Aug 13 shows the message as below:-

"On August 4, 2009, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, call 1-800-375-5283 to update your address.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283. "

We never received any other RFE other than the FP notice. The online system was updated as of Aug 13.

Now we do not know if the RFE mentioned in the online message refers to FP notice or there is another RFE (I am guessing due to typo error of marriage date on the N-400 application).

Should we contact USCIS to find out more about the situation or complete the FP and wait for interview call.

Any advice will be useful

The plot thickens : USCIS site says RFE notice sent

All righty then this is my second day on the boards and already the excitement is building up. An email from CRIS (the automated case status thingy from USCIS) indicated that my wife and I have been hit with an RFE. Given that there is a sudden spurt of RFEs I see on the boards I think it is just a language "malfunction". More about it in the link to a post in a different thread

Will keep the eager readers posted of any further developments.

RFE status for FP?

Hi,
I filed N-400 recently but on Aug 5th, the online status changed to this:

"On August 5, 2009, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, call 1-800-375-5283 to update your address"

But the only thing I received was Finger Prints notice scheduled for Aug 25th. The FP notice date was Aug 6th. Could someone please tell me if the above status is related to FP notice or is it something else not related to FP. Thanks.

I believe the notice they are referring to is the fingerprint notice you received.

But someone else here may know more and post.

I just called USCIS and spoke to a rep and she told me that an RFE is different from FP notice. I got the feeling she was giving some standard reply without understanding exactly what's going on. She might be right also. Either way, I am worried now what it could be. RFE was issued on Aug 5th and I did not receive it in today's mail also. The FP notice date is Aug 6th and I received it on Aug 10th itself. Mine is a simple case with couple of traffic tickets which I notified in the application but I don't think RFE will be issued at the service center. I know those things will be looked into during interview by the local district office. I have no clue what it could be then. I enclosed the following with the N-400 application.

1) Two passport style photos with my name written on the back
2) A check for $ 675/- (which was already cashed)
3) A color copy of my green card (fron and back)

I also made sure that I filed my application only after the qualifying date ( 84 days before completion of 5 years on GC)

Could someone in a similar situation (receiving RFE as soon as case was opened) please advice. Thanks.
