LC through Sprint

Yes, that's what I have heard as well. From a state perspective, Sprint is probably the largest employer in Kansas and the DOL should be a bit lenient with Sprint applications, but you never know.

As I mentioned before, I am keeping other options open.

LC LIN Number

Anybody was able to get LIN number from Legal on their LC case pending with Chicago's DOL?
I asked and they won't give it to me.

Re: LC LIN Number

Is there a LIN number associated with a LC case in Chicago DOL? I think it is only a 'Case Number' and most of Sprint's recent ones start with '0542xxxx'.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Guys,

It seems to be a long wait for all of us. I was told by my lawyer that the cases are pending for 9-10 months even after replying the query.

This doesn't help

The IT outsourcing announcement and the impending transformation doesn't help Sprint cases at all. I don't know how long it is going to take, or is it ever at all...

I am trying to be optimistic, but as days go by, it is getting tougher and tougher :(

Did anybody hear anything from their Lawyers or from the company's Immigration Coordinators?

Re: This doesn't help

I get a standard answer from the lawyer. They'll let me know if they receive any update from DOL.

Is there anything at all that we could do to speed up this process? Will these work?...Like - 1. Calling the DOL employees who process these files. 2. Contacting local senator (not sure..I know a friend who did this when he was in 485 stage, but does it make sense at this stage?)

If your job is safe, stick to it and finally you will get it.

If your job is not safe, better think of other ways.

This is just my personal oppinion.

I guess with the Organizational restructuring, it is safe to say that DOL will only look at Sprint cases early next year. Just have to keep our fingers and toes crossed for layoffs.

If Sprint applies for a ONE year extension before the employee completes 6 years on his H1-B (since the GC application was on file for one year), does it mean that the employee has to work for Sprint only (is it conditional extension)? Or, the person is free to transfer his H1-B to someother company during that one year period (I mean, will it be like a generic extension)?

Does anyone know?

Thanks,
kslc

7th Year extension

I found that answer from http://murthy.com/UDbrin7y.html

Now, does anyone know when Sprint files for this 7th year extension? I mean how many months in before the 6years cutoff, do they apply for the 7th year extension?

Thanks,
kslc

Sprint

Hi Folks

It looks like, some kind of layoff is anticipated as we are getting lot of calls from the consultants working there.
And lot of consultants have agreed to join as due to our hiring policy and faster resources for labor certifications from various states.

If still interested contact me for further details abajaj8@hotmail.com

7th year extension

I was told by one of the immigration coordinators that 7th yr extension would be filed 3 months in advance of your H1 expiration date.

7th year extension

I got my 7th year extension approved (H1 and H-4)more than a month back. But haven't recieved the originals yet.

Re: 7th year extension

I know that after you get 7th year extension you are free to go to any employer of your choice but, I want to know, can any other employer file for 7th year extension (other than Sprint?).

Another employer?

Kslc

You mentioned that a person is free to go to another employer after the 7th year extension. How is that possible - on H-1 or the Labor? Could you please help me understand?

Thanks
Raju

Re: Another employer?

Well, I was under the impression that if your employer files for 7th year extension, that ONE Year extension is specific to that employer only...

but,

from the conversations (friends etc.,) and after reading this - http://murthy.com/UDbrin7y.html , it looks like you can transfer your H1B to any other employer during that period.

Anyone, correct me if my interpretation is wrong.

Dec

There's a rumor that the DOL will start looking at Sprint cases in December. Ofcourse, there will be more announcements from Sprint before that. So, I think it is going to be a looooooooooooooong wait!!!

Anybody hear anything from either their coordinators or from their lawyers?

:(

Yes, I agree with you on this one.

But the question I still have is, would the layoffs affect all LC applications, or just the ones on the IT side? What about cases that have been applied on the business side? It doesn't look like the business side might have considerable layoffs any time soon.

If DOL is looking at them now, my guess will be the cases will either be denied or changed to regular.

Re: gcgcgcgc

Well, I was wrong on this one. Layoffs were announced today. So, I guess it is just going to be wait and watch...for the next few months. God...when are we even going to hear some good news!!!
