Any issues crossing the border with own car?

I know there must have been a huge discussion on the issues while crossing the border with the own car, but can some one please summarize the issues?

If we enter the car in the goods-to-follow list, would there be still an issue if we use the same car to cross the border?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Landing in September Wife's H1B Visa Expired but H1 Valid

We are landing in Canada at Vancouver on the last week
of September and wanted to know the following:
1.What Documents are needed to produce to the
immigration authorities?
We do not have any relatives in Canada so do we need to give an address in canada
3.My wife has a US Visa which was expired in April
this year however her Work Permit is valid for the
next two years.Because of this we were thinking of
going by road to Seattle and then take a rental car
till the Canadian Border. And then Come back either the
same day or the next day.We wanted to know if this
procedure is valid .
4.Under what circumstances will she loose her I-94 which is required for
re-entering to US.
Please Advice
Thanks

You need to take PP, Immigration paper from CIC and Casher check.( I just took US$ 6000, suggestion is take 2 cashier checks one for $2000 another one for the remaining amount. In case if you want to open the bank account you can use $2000 check for depositing money).

[2] 10K us$ - check/money order or what ??? ( They only look for funds, not specically for 10k, take always less than 10k US$.

Just click this link, it may answer your questions http://boards.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=91050

Landed in Calgary

Landed in Canada on Sep 02 at calgary international airport and came back to US on advance parole on sep 7...

Everything went fine , immigration officer was nice and gentle. Immigration process took around 45 minutes. Customs took 15min.

I took all the relevant documents with 13000$ USD as proof of funds...declared it in the customs form but nobody asked to see the currency or bank statements. They only asked how much you are carrying ?
Also, I had with me photos of jewellery, car registration papers but no one asked for it. I had prepared an extensive goods to follow list listing around CDN60000...customs just stamped the list..
Also applied for SIN card..that took about 10min...

Thanks to all who shared their experiences.
Good luck to all who will be landing in future.

to happy4you,

1. Do I have to take originals for education and employment ?
-- better to carry , in my case noone asked for it though I had originals with me
2. Can you share format of "goods to follow list" ?
-- just make in excel with item, desc, model, serial no, value(in CDN dolrs)
3. I am taking camcoder/digital camera for weeklong trip. Do I have to include in good to follow list?
-- no include them in goods to declare list
4. Did you apply for SIN, bank account, medical ?
5. Do I have to surrender my I-94 and will get new I-94 ? Any issue with pending 140/485 ?
-- keep I-94 separate from passport..no need to surrender..you will get new one...no issues with pending GC..

hope this helps

Yes, you need to add them to the "Goods to follow list".4. Did you apply for SIN, bank account, medical ?
I tried to apply for SIN, but I reached the SIN office by 4.35 due to heavy traffic on highways. Just click below for SIN office locator and look for SIN application in FAQ.

I went thru the land route, no one bothered to look at my ole I-94's, and while entering US, they asked for my new I-129 right hand bottom corner peace which needs to be attached to the old I-94's, as soon as I showed my new I-129, no problems after that to enter into USA. Recently I got my 7 year visa stamping in PP.

any more questions let me know.

Have a safe landing in Canada.

Congratulations to GSingh72.

RH2002.

GSingh72 and rh2002,

Thank you very much for your reply. Your help is greatly appreciated.
I will wait for sample of goods to follow list.

GSingh72, you mentioned that you took $13000. I read that above $10K is a problem. Looks like you were through

Happy 4 both of you

Urgent Help, Please!

Folks, when you give a Canadian address for the PR card, is it required that someone be at the apartment to sign and receive the card or the postman just deposit the letter (card) in the mailbox?

If it's a registered post, then probably someone needs to be there. What happens when no one is at home? When the friend goes to pick up at the post office, I am not sure whether they will hand the cards to him as his name might not be in the letter. Any clues, fellas? Thanks in advance for any reply and really appreciate it.
