IR5 entry from India for parents

Note : Any update regarding the IR5 visa category you will be communicated and you will be receiving a official communication from embassy and then you may schedule a appointment if you haven't received any communication you are not allowed to schedule the appointment.

Does any body attended IR5 visa interview withy communication fo consulate?

Can you tell the procedure to get appointment? Trying for 2 months, without luck. It shows date but no appointment. I even have letter from consulate to get appointment under expedite category.

Is it for expired IR5 visa? I went through the appointment page. Picked immigrant visa, then I think their are more options, then next page shows at the bottom - renewal of expired visa. I picked that one. I had to try multiple times for few days and found couple of open dates. This was in last month. Keep trying, you may find one. Good luck!

Medical done from Hyderabad- had to show mumbai appt letter, copy of DS260 and other requested docs in the medical appt email. For DS260, We didn’t had any updates from the last year one. I had to email them at the clinic as my mother didn’t carried with her and wasn’t listed in the docs to carry. Looks like they need DS260 to tie medical report against it.
For the mumbai appt, PCC, medical packet, copy of DS260, passport copy, 2 photos(which were returned back to her) , passport and fees is what they asked for.

Thanks for the details. Once passport gets stamped how much time/buffer do we have to come to USA? With covid I was wondering if we have any flexibility, at the same time don't want to go through the same process again.

Yes,that’s one more worry we have. They gave stamping for 5 months.

You may be right. Expiration date is given by when medical was taken I guess. Dates kind of aligns to 6 months.

Visa is valid until medical is valid.we only got 50 days valid visa cause we finished our medical in March .so we traveled in 3 weeks after stamping . So it is better to travel asap you get visa due to covid uncertainty.

I am traveling in the same boat where my mother's visa got expired and I hear the same thing from customer support: wait for the letter.

How did you book your appointment as ustraveldocs website wouldn't allow you to pick any appointment when you select No to "Did you receive communication from embassy?". Please help. I am traveling in the same boat where my mother's visa got expired and I hear the same thing from customer support: wait for the letter.

Say yes to communication received from embassy and select date...there won't be any problem

I will try to select the date as you mentioned. Hope they won't stop us at the Consulate on the day of the appointment.

we got our renewal the same way

We flew to US on 19th and no problem at all entering in USA..we traveled through emirates and at Dubai they were checking restrictions and all because everyone Is not clear and aware but mention about proclamation and be confident . In USA they took us in their office for stamping because of first time entry after immigration visa. That's it so nothing to worry

Actually embassy is not sending emails to those whose visas are expired ,they are not even sending emails to them whose appointments got canceled due to covid. So just select yes because canceled appointments emails are considered as communication so book the date , no one will stop . Good luck
