What you need to do after I485 approval

The next step is to complete processing of obtaining evidence of permanent resident status, the I-551 ("ADIT") stamp. In order to obtain the ADIT stamp, you must schedule an appointment with your local office by visiting the USCIS website at http://infopass.uscis.gov/. You and each family member will need to bring the following documents to the appointment:

1. Original I-485 approval notice;
2. Passport style photos (2 per person);
3. Original Advance Parole document;
4. Original EAD card; and
5. Valid, unexpired passport

For additional photograph instructions, please try the following link: http://travel.state.gov/passport/pptphotos/index.html
When you appear at the local USCIS office, you will obtain an ADIT stamp in your passport. The ADIT stamp serves as evidence of your lawful U.S. permanent resident status, and can be used as evidence of lawful employment and re-entry into the U.S. from international travel. The actual physical "green card" will be mailed directly to your home address, and can take up to 6 months.
