Finally after 20 months it's over. I am a CITIZEN

Dear members including people who were giving me good advice in this lengthy process, I became a US Citizen on last Friday. Most of you know that I have been waiting for 20 months after my first interview that was on April 2009. I have not filed mandamus or 1447 (B), I was just following with senator and ombudsman’s office. They were following my case. I got a third interview with my husband on last month and after a lengthy written test ( Stoke Interview) for both of us, the office approved my case but Bio was expired. I gave my fingerprint on that same day. I was waiting for oath letter by mail which the officer told me but I did not get anything for the last thirty days. I went ifopass and asked them about my oath. The officer at counter printed and asked me to come for oath on the next day.
I determined to wait to get decision without help of a lawyer because I don’t want to give my hard earned money to give them. I took total 19 Infopass appointment and I called 31 times to 1800 number asking my status. I figured out if the case was not approved the info pass would not help. For my bad luck the officer who interviewed me left the job after couple of the month of the interview and my file was abandoned for couple of months. The file was move to table to table every 120 days to a new officer’s table but nobody knew what happed at the first interview and why the case was not approved at the first time. Any way the third interview I took my husband and the interview were about 2 hours at early morning.
I am so excited and happy and will apply for passport soon. I got the old style, photo pasted naturalization certificate. Most of the people at the hall got new computer printed. I noticed some of them have not signed their name on the photo. I have signed on my photo.
Now I have to deal with Indian embassy after I get my U.S passport. Thank you so much to everybody in the forum especially to Bobsmith for giving me advice and to be patient. My advice to people who wait for a long time after interview is there are some reason for all of these. We really don't know why the IO wrote "A decision could not b made", only you know what happened at the interview. We are all anxious and nervous and don't know what we said to the IO. Please do hard work before the interview. Try to remember every moment of your life if the application is marriage based. Try be honest and humble to officer even he is angry and you feel he is arrogant.

Congratulations!

Quick question - what was the lengthy written test for? What did it consist of? And what is a "Stoke"?

Quick question - what was the lengthy written test for? What did it consist of? And what is a "Stoke"?

It is a very lengthy written test, more like write "The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land".

The test consist of being asked to write a sentence, you will need to be done with the sentence in 1 hour.

Stoke Interview is when the candidates are separated and grilled on a USCIS GAS GRILL, the flames usually make sure the truth comes out dripping like fat...lol!!!

Liberate yourself, Google the term "stoke interview"....

Al Southner, That was very funny. Good answer. People don't have time to read other posts or Google. They just ask questions here.

Thanks Al. I did try Google but just searched for Stoke... not the entire Stokes interview string and so found irrelevant stuff, which is why I asked the question here.

Marlia - I'm sure you have all the time in the world to spend reading other posts or google around. I know I don't - do have a day job that usually runs in to the night.

Complexity, So, you have a job and you think I don't have a job and have to answer for your questions because you don't have time. My friend, I also have a day job that ends at 6.00 PM. After the job I have to cook and clean. But, I always find time to learn about citizenship process. If you are really interested in immigration process you should find time to read posts as many as you can and also find time to Google before you post questions.

Again, please read my response above - I did try to do the research but made a mistake in my search term. I don't want to question your way of life, but my way did not get me the answer, so the post on a forum. If I can't ask a question here, doesn't that defeat the purpose of the forum?????

Once again, congratulations on your citizenship. But do remember that along with your citizenship comes the responsibility of not poking fun or pointing fingers at other immigrants for something that they did wrong. Be cognizant of others unawareness before you laugh at them.

P.S: I'm going to stop here and not respond back as I don't want this to be a back and forth match on who's right or wrong. If you still feel I am fault here, apologies to you and all others who feel that way.

I read the posts to find out if there is anything I could do or advice. In your case you have to control yourself.
