Finally, after 9+ years, I'm finally a proud U.S. citizen. :D

Technically, I should have been able to do it back in 2003 based on my marriage, but I just had to get into trouble  (read all about it here), and decided to wait a few years before I finally gathered enough courage to do it.

My oath ceremony took place today in Bridgeport, CT at the U.S. District Court. The ceremony was to begin at 2:30pm. I arrived a few minutes early, entered the court room, where 2 UCICS clerks were calling up names. Each person's whose name was called, was to come forward and surrender the Oath letter and Green card. This process took about 30 minutes (there were a total of 59 new citizens to be from 31 different countries). Then, a third genetelmen introduced himself being of the office of voters' registrar and began handing out voter registeration forms, to be collected after the ceremony. We then sat there for another 30 minutes or so, and at 3:30pm the judge walked in. He did a quick introductory speech, kept it nice and short ( :) ), and we took our Oath of Allegiance, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Once the formalities ended, they began calling out names and handing out the certificates. I got lucky as my certificate was second in line. I approached the USICS clerk and judge, shook their hands, thanked them, handed out my registration to vote form to the other gentleman, and walked out as a new happy and proud U.S. citizen.

I want to thank everyone on this board, especially to Bobsmyth for being so helpful and supporting, given my unuaual and nerve wrecking process.

Thanks again, and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! :D

Great news GhostRider, glad it all finally worked out for you.

I am almost there too. Now get that passport application in the works.

Your open reporting of your problem issues will no doubt help others in the future. Much kudos to you for openly sharing some very private stuff.

Congratulations !! Good to hear everything worked out for you in the end.

Thanks Bob! Sorry for butchering your screen name... :o :) I corrected the first post :)

Congrats!!!

You can now keep the bat in the car, but don't use it on anyone...:)

Didn't use it on anyone the first time either... rest assure though... there is nothing in my trunk now, nor will there ever be.

Looks like you're almost there yourself. Patience my friend. And be careful once you get the oath letter. You don't want to be pulled over for anything :)
