End of the Road!

Hi Everyone

Few weeks ago, I naturalized and become a US citizen and wanted to share my experience with those that may be interested to know. In the words of the MasterCard commercials:

Number of times asked about use of NP: ZERO
Number of times asked about visit to COP: ZERO
Total duration of the interview: 25 minutes
Total time it took from application to oath date: 6 and half months
Not having to deal with the bozos at the INS anymore: PRICELESS!

As some of you may remember, I have been advocating for a reason-based approach to the use of NP and visit to COP issue. Those who want a refresher or are new to the forum can read my award-winning analysis running un-refuted for almost three years at the following link: http://boards.immigration.com/showthread.php?t=206893

Granted, I have not visited my COP but was going to do so in a jip if I had a family emergency or some other exigent circumstance. On the other hand, after becoming a LPR, I did procure and use a NP from my native country as I needed to extensively travel overseas on business and could not limit my opportunities by putsing around with a RTD. In addition to INS’ ridiculous processing time for issuing RTDs, I was not going to shell out close to $400 bucks every year for a piece of s--t that becomes useless by the time you have received it from the INS. Some have time to waste, I need to grab business opportunities, manage investments and work on deals, and therefore no time to waste. What I had was the willingness (and the joy if it happened) of taking these bozos to court and get their ass kicked.

My parting shot – do reasonable and logical things and make the most of the opportunity this great country has offered you. I cherish my country but hate and fight useless bureaucracies like the INS, right-wing nut jobs and the occasional dim wit who ends up as President. It was fortunate that I naturalized in time to register to vote. I look forward to casting my vote on November 4. My hope is that either President Obama (my preference) or the other guy (who used to be fair on the issue) will rise above the shrill voices of the right-wingers and allow the millions of undocumented persons who do so much for this country enjoy the benefits of legalization and eventual citizenship.

Cheerio and Adios, Amigos!

So it seems different INS office has different view as far as the visiting COP and NP renewal is concerned. Some might don't care, some might make a big fuss about it. It all depends on our luck...
