My I-485 is approved on sept17th as per the online case status.here are details
EB1OR ND may2002, AD July2004
I-485 dec2002
Changed job in april, 2004 sent AC21 in aug along with RFE for medical-because the medicals had expired
FP1:march 2003
FP2: sept3 2004
I have a question, what kind of 2pics are needed, the one like passport or side view like EAD pics. I heard that now they want passport type pics.

Finally, my case has been approved :D. It happened while I was on vacation (seems to be a trend, too!). It took almost exactly 2 years to the day, and almost exactly 2 months from FP2 to approval.

Thanks to everyone on this thread who have given of themselves, advice or otherwise. Good luck to everyone still waiting...

Thanks for taking the initiative to keep this thread up-to-date. I'm sure many have told you before, but many people have benefited from this thread and we all appreciate your effort!

As far as the AOS is concerned, I am in the same boat as you (or are we in a boat at all???). I know that my I-140 was not approved as long ago as yours, but I too haven't gotten my FP2 notice yet. Is there nothing we can do to "trigger" a FP2? I called the national customer service phone number the other day, but the CSR kept on saying that because the processing date for I-485's has not crossed my RD/ND, I just need to wait :(.

I guess all we can do is hang in there...

BTW, I know that the FPs expire after 15 months. Do the medical reports expire too??? It'll be a royal pain in the you-know-where to do the tests again!

You know, when you are going through hardship, if you can still be cooperative and kind to others, that speaks lots about you. That's why I think you meet so many nice people in this forum. I called them with exactly the same results. I guess that's it. Someone reported that she/he had her/is lawyer send a formal letter requesting FP2. But it's not clear if it helped or if they even considered the letter.

As for the medical records expiring - I've never heard/read anyone say that they've had to retake the tests, so my guess would be that they don't expire.

In that case, many of us are due RFEs. This will never end then.
Could you please tell us how long it took you to redo the medical records or do they ask for a minimum number of tests to be redone? Please be as explicit as you can, Thanks.

I don't think the medical is valid for 12 months only. Where did you get this info? ic

I think it is front pictures now, but I am not sure. Someone, a couple weeks ago, posted on the thread about this issue (reporting her/his experience on stamping). If you look back on the thread you'll find it i'm sure.

Medical validity for 12 months sounds strange if it is the general rule. Of course I believe you, but maybe in your case they raised and RFE for some technical reason (like a doctor mess up or something). Otherwise, almost all 485 approvals would go through 2nd medical exam, and I never read a post about it ... in any case thanks for the info !
 
it is indeed front passport pictures now, according to all members experiences
that have already stamped their passport (i have an appointment next week, so i will keep you informed if something strange comes up).

As for the medicals, there is something that allows them to extend the life
of it and this is why there are approvals without a second medical. The only case new medicals are needed are those that generated RFEs and in these cases, the original medicals were not complete. This is mostly the case when
the wives were pregnant the first time so some of the tests could not be completed. Other cases are when there was something wrong or the report
stated something wrong. As an example i mention the case of one member reporting that his tuberc. skin test was positive, but the Xray showed he was
fine. The examiner reported the positive result and that caused an RFE even though the member was fine.

In any case, if all was complete the first time, there is no need to worry.

As usual, there's no consistancy in the USCIS. I got my medical exam done on 8/6/02, and my GC was approved on 9/8/04, with no RFE for medical tests. So in my case, they retained validity for >2 years!

Definitely passport style pictures, as from Sept. 1st, 2004 (between Aug. 1 and Sept. 1, both types were accepted, but now only passport style are accepted).

GC stamp in Boston

I had my passport stamped today at the JFK Federal Building in Boston. I decided not to kill myself getting there at 7am when they opened, so I arrived at 8:20am. There wasn't much of a line for security or for getting a number, so I cruised through that. But then it took 5 hours before my number was called! Things were slow at first, then they speeded up until about 11:30am, when it seemed like most of the agents went off for lunch. At 12:30pm, it started to pick up again, and I was out by 1:15pm.

Note: even though my GC approval letter said that ADIT style photos were required, the USCIS is now accepting ONLY passport style pictures.
Also, although it wasn't on the approval letter, be sure to take along your current EAD card and all unused and expired Advance Paroles, as they'll want those. Of course, you also need your passport and current I-94.

Now I just have to wait 6-8 months for the green (pink!) card. :)

My first medical was perfectly ok. However when I for RFE for medicals, the company lawyer told me about validity of medical for 12months and also I called the 800number and those people told me the same. thats why I wrote about medical validity, anyways USCIS is wierd no doubt.
