I had just given my second Fingerprint last weekend........hopefully the second fingerprint, when it gets to the USCIS, will trigger a speedier 485 approval......but my dreams of getting 485 and 140 approved together (precedent: fatlady) have been shattered

I am happy for you, I think you have a good chance of quick 485 approval. I'll cross fingers!
My case on the other hand sucks. I haven't even had a 2nd FP, and lots of folks with more recent petitions have already had them. Let's see !
Cheers,

Was your 140 approved in 2003 or 2004? (the 140 and 485 lists show different years).....
Reverse_Man said:We had our passports stamped for temporary permanent resident status today at Newark. Things sure seem to have picked up at VSC, there have been several approvals of many kinds in the past 3 months.
Good luck to you all, it's just a matter of time.

Max: Thanks for your encourgement. I am moved by it and hope your saying is TRUE. ICReverse_Man said:There was no interview in our case. If it's a straightforward approval like ours, then you just show up at a local district office on a Wednesday (I don't know if they all do it on Wednesdays, Newark office does). It is fairly simple after that, you just need to bring all your EADs and APs (old and new), your approval forms, and your passport with I94 forms. They may do a check on you, I heard other people say it's a background check, I didn't ask anyone at the district office. Some people had their passports stamped immediately when their turn at the window happened, others (including us) had to wait a little longer for them to perform the "check". If it indeed is a check, then they probably do it for those that have near-expiring FPs, as was the case with us.
I know of a friend who got called for an interview. He once was arrested and let go for DUI on campus. He received his green card without any problems.
Not much can go wrong at this stage, there is no subjective appraisal of your photo, your birth certificate, etc. Any problems you encounter now can easily fixed without obtaining (sometimes begging for) a letter from a busy bigshot. I truly believe that once your EB1 140 is approved and 180 days have passed, you are safe.
And you should also be proud of yourself for your achievements, I think it's wrong for the US to make us go through this much pain.

I thought we should try to summarize how we see the I-485 adjudication process these days. This is how I see it, after reading several posts, talking to my attorney and some web research. I am assuming either concurrent or semi concurrent processing, and that FP has been done before I-140 approval (quite typical scenario)
- I-140 is approved.
- If FP were done less than 15 months ago, chances are the I-485 is also approved at the same time (see fatlady's case in this tracker, and the Ohata memo stuff
- If FP were done more than 15 months ago, USCIS will either immediately or sometime in future, decide to finish your 485 processing. At this point, they'll need you to go for second finger print, because FBI's background checks are only valid for 15 months
- One or two months later USCIS receives the background check results and approves the case
- Beer
- Wine
- More beer
Opinions ? Did I miss/missinterpret something ?
There is a news brief in murthy.com about I-485 approvals.or_waiting said:My case was semi concurrent.. I-140 - Oct 2002 and I-485 Feb 2003.
In my case finger prints were done in May 2003.
I got both I-140 and I-485 approved together on 07/28/2004.
I think VSC is looking at the 140 and 485 at the same time irrespective of whether they were filed concurrent (i.e. same package) or semi concurrent i.e. 485 file after 140.
Although a couple of recent VSC cases seem to indicate that this is not a consistent trend and may depend on officer in question.
