DV 2025 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Hi Everyone , hi mom

On July 17, 2025, USCIS issued a Request for Initial Evidence (RFE) for my Diversity Visa (DV) Adjustment of Status case, requesting the original copy of my birth certificate. I sent the requested document via FedEx on July 22, 2025, and it was delivered to USCIS on July 23, 2025, signed for by “M. William.”

Typically, applicants in similar DV cases who respond to RFEs are notified by USCIS within approximately 10 days that their response has been received. However, it has now been over two weeks since my package was delivered, and my USCIS case status still shows “We have sent a request for initial evidence,” with no update confirming receipt or processing.
The Diversity Visa program operates on a strict fiscal year deadline, and I am deeply concerned that this delay in updating my case could jeopardize the timely adjudication of my application before the September 30, 2025 deadline, potentially resulting in the loss of my visa eligibility despite my prompt compliance.

It is the Houston field office!

What should I do ? I am hopeless
Not sure where you came about the information re USCIS notifying applicants in similar DV cases who respond to RFEs within approximately 10 days that their response has been received. That is certainly not the norm AFAIK. There’s usually no confirmation of RFE response being received - there’s a couple of reported cases in this thread with a similar experience.

You have your proof of delivery, you just need to be a bit more patient for now. Your FO is aware your application is DV based, the IO assigned to the case will adjudicate it in due course.

There is actually a confirmation that RFE response is received. I saw a couple of post on other platforms where their account was updated with “ response for RFE was received”. You can see the attached picture. But I am going to wait

This is certainly not the norm AFAIK for DV based AOS applications like I stated.

All the posts you saw where the accounts got updated following RFE response receipt are DV based? Do you mind providing direct links to those and not just screenshots?

USCIS both sent the RFE and acknowledged receiving the response on the same day? Both are dated 11 August. Does that seem remotely possible, given RFEs are sent in the mail and likely wouldn’t have reached the recipient even by the same day much less been responded to and mailed back.

I haven’t been on the USCIS “case status” website for a while, is that USCIS font now or is this one of those third party sites that people use?

So I asked a live agent today about my biometrics being scheduled and they said since I'm asking about it, it hasn't been scheduled and I'll receive a notice when it is scheduled. The way they replied kinda sounded like they didn't actually check if it was scheduled, they just said it hasn't been yet since I didn't receive the notice.

But maybe I'm mistaken.

1. Has anyone got some anecdotes surrounding how the live agents tend to deal with that question?
2. Is the only way to check via a live agent by the way? The chatbot can't tell you?
3. Would it be worth trying to find out via phone call if I think that the live agent is not really checking?
I spoke to a live agent a couple of times, for both myself and my husband. It really was hit or miss with the agents. Most of them were helpful, but there was one that seemed like they didn't really check and just sent me a boilerplate response and basically closed the chat before I could say anything else. I just tried again the next day and got another agent who was much more helpful

Hi everyone,

I attended an interview an hour ago and my status just changed to "New Card is Being Produced". My interview took around 10 minutes. I was asked to show the originals of my degrees and birth certificate. I was asked standard questions from I-485.

My number became available in August but I sent all my documents in June. I attached the photos of my application below. After my package was received, I contacted a live agent to ask about my biometric appointment and after I knew the date I rescheduled it in my USCIS account. I was able to do my biometric appointment in June. Then, I didn't have any updates until the end of July. I got a call from USCIS and they scheduled my interview. I got the interview notice by mail the same week.

I got married and changed my last name after I've learned that I won DV (however my husband was not applying with me). I had enough time to change my last name in my passport and school transcripts. I also included a marriage certificate (shows the change of my last name) in the package.

Thanks everyone for sharing their experience, this forum has been really helpful!!

I also added all the information in the spreadsheet.

To be honest, I think it is other I-485!!

to be honest , i haven’t checked if there were Dv based or not!!! I thought all AOS cases were following the same process

Yep! That is exactly what I thought. If DV based cases follow the same process as all other AOS cases, a very large number of DV based cases will not get adjudicated before the end of their applicable FY. DV based AOS cases are expedited, however more often than not, case status do not get updated online like they do for other AOS cases.

Hello, I’m preparing my documents and I have a few questions:

  1. In the reciprocity page, it says: “Each copy must have a blue or black stamp with a legend stating ‘es copia fiel del original.’ Digital copies may not have the stamp but will be issued as a PDF with a digital signature.”
Does this mean that if I send a copy of my birth certificate or high school diploma, the translation must be certified by a notary public?
  2. Do passports also need to be translated?
  3. Are police records required for Adjustment of Status ? In the spreadsheet, I only saw a mention of court records “if applicable.”
  4. For the I-94, do I need to include only the record showing my last entry, or also the full travel history that can be retrieved from the CBP website?

Thank you a lot!

This is for DV2026, right? Please post on the applicable thread.

I received RFE at February and send my answer in April 7. On my account still shows “RFE was sent” and contact center every time says it’s ok

It looks like a third party app that I shall not name, cause I hate them with passion. Nevertheless USCIS case status reporting is not the greatest either. Glitches like that happen quite often. But it's just that a glitch - most likely a human error.

Case received (by lockbox I presume?) on 1 August, RFE sent 11 Aug, RFE response received 11 Aug… hmmm

Hi All,

My case is not very common but I will share just in the event someone else is in the same situation: My current status is H-1B, but I was previously on a G4 visa as a dependent child to a G4 visa holder.
I had my interview today, and it went pretty quick, but I was told at the end that since I was on a G4 visa in the past, I need to sign a waiver before I can become a Legal Permanent Resident; I did not think this would apply to me since it's not my current status, but she said I still have to sign it.

I hoped she would let me sign the waiver right there, but she said they had to mail it to me so I can mail it back. My FO is pretty quick (New York) so I'm hopeful my case gets approved by the end of FY, this still delays it.

Yeah I just called them again today to see if there has been any update and the lady on the phone was very nice. She said she checked both systems to make sure and she said that she can see it has been queued up for scheduling but it has not been scheduled yet.

Congratulations!! Did you get married after getting selected for the DV lottery? I just want to confirm because i'm in the same boat, and I see from the timeline that you didn't submit the DS-260?

Thanks!

Yes, we got married in September 2024 and I didn't submit DS260 because I was worried my number will not become current.

Hi all.

Today my status was updated to the "New Card Is Being Produced." I'm so glad)

It was a long 7 months of waiting and experiences. I suppose my state Illinois is the longest in this matter. In early June, I turned to the congressman, but at the beginning of August his request came that the case would be considered before the end of the financial year. A week ago I talked with a living agent, but she also said that nothing was required of me, just wait. Honestly, the expectation killed, but they are cherished and such long -awaited words "New Card Is Being Produced." I am so happy about this)

Many thanks to this chat, @Sm1smom and everyone who shared their cases. Even just reading this chat and studying the table, I found answers to many questions. They are priceless!

P.S. Request to make changes to the table sent
