If you’ve already received your GC, you’re better off visiting the SSA and submitting a SSN application on your own.Hi
How long it takes until we receive the SSN after the approval?

Oh ok. I thought they'd send one automatically since we mentioned we needed one in the form. Thank you.If you’ve already received your GC, you’re better off visiting the SSA and submitting a SSN application on your own.
Congratulations!Today, my interview was at 9:30 AM, and I attended with my wife and one child.
I arrived at 8:15 AM and waited in the parking lot until 9:00 AM, then went inside.
We waited until exactly 9:40 AM, when the officer came out and called my name, so we waited only 10 minutes past our scheduled interview time.
The interview was very easy. The officer was kind, cheerful, and very welcoming.
In fact, the interview was so easy that even my F1 student visa interview was much more difficult in comparison.
After we took the oath, the officer said the interview would be quick and that we would go over the I-485 application together.
She started by asking me about my:
Full name
Date of birth
Place of birth
Current home address
Employment history inside the U.S. only (she wasn’t interested in anything outside the U.S. this applies to work history too)
She then asked:
My parents’ names, dates of birth, and current place of residence
The date and place of my marriage
How I met my wife
My son’s name and date of birth
How I manage my finances here in the U.S.
Then we moved on to the yes/no questions from the I-485. She didn’t ask all of them, only the important ones, and she asked me and my wife at the same time.
She didn’t ask for any original documents at all — not the birth certificate, university degrees, marriage certificate, or I-134.
Everything was easy and smooth. I understand that interview experiences can vary a lot depending on the field office, but this was my experience at the Detroit field office.
My advice:
1. Read all the previous interview experiences for your specific field office. I spent yesterday reading past Detroit FO experiences and today's interview was very similar in trend.
2. Memorize your I-485 thoroughly.
After the interview I asked if we had cleared our background checks and she said everything looks fine by the look of it, and that she will check again and update our cases. The Interview ended at exactly 10am.
On the way home, I was stuck at a traffic light. I checked the website and the status had already been changed to New Card Is Being Produced. This was like 20-25 minutes after the interview.
Thank you to this amazing forum, and thank you to everyone who helped me. Special thanks to mom.
This forum made everything so much easier.
Congratulations!
They may, they may not. If you currently already have a SSN issued based on a NI status, you’ll basically get sent a new copy of the same card with DHS restrictions written on it (if the card gets sent automatically). That is why it is better to apply in person after receiving the GC to ensure an unrestricted card gets issued.Oh ok. I thought they'd send one automatically since we mentioned we needed one in the form. Thank you.
WAAAAAAAAOH CONGRATS.

i need advice on how is congressional inquiry is done

You can file now if you wish to take advantage of the early filing option, or wait until the first day of your CN current month (July 1st in this case).Hello Everyone,
I do have real quick question, our case number is 2025EU188XX which means we will be current in next month(July
). I can see our number in the cut off of next month chart.
USCIS resources says that:
View attachment 6517
So according to that information can I file my case now? or should I wait for July 1 ?
Your FO plays no role in AOS package processing so that is not a valid basis for comparison. How long it takes the Lockbox to process and cash your payment depends on how busy they are as at when your package was received.Hello mom,
I have sent my package last week monday 06/02 and there is no update yet on the cheque being cashed, this duration is late compared to other people who filed at my FO. I filed early, is that an indication that my package was not accepted?
Additionally how long does Chicago lockbox Have to cash the payment?
Thank you, Mom!You can file now if you wish to take advantage of the early filing option, or wait until the first day of your CN current month (July 1st in this case).
Take a look at the FAQ tab of the AOS process spreadsheet.Thank you, Mom!
I have a question regarding early filing. Is it risky to submit my application before the 1st day of the month in which I become current according to the visa bulletin?
Could my application be rejected just because I filed a bit early?
Take a look at the FAQ tab of the AOS process spreadsheet.Hey Ma'am
I'm expecting my case will be current as per calculation in last visa bulletin which will be in July and at the same time my i94 will expire end of this, can I apply early filling from now or its high risk
kindly guide me in this matter
HelloHello. My question is on Maintaining Status. I am a selectee of DV25, and during the tax filing session, I received a tax form from my University that is a 1099. I reached out to DSO to ask why, and I was told the work which was listed as on campus was not and the Organization which was a partner with the school since they even used my university email, did onboarding on the school BlackBoard (website for my courses, grades, and onboarding for on-campus jobs), was off-campus even though many F1 students are affected by this. All my colleagues who were F1 students were not informed about this, even though the hiring was done on my university's official website, and even the 1099 was from the university's address. I only worked for 5 months, then I left. The DSO told me she doesn't understand how that happened, but it seemed there was miscommunication since the job organization went Private, but they did not realize to inform the F1 students to leave the job or work on CPT. Will this affect my AOS? How can I approach this? Thank you so much for your feedback!
You'll need to use your own discretion on this.Hello
Point 1:
I asked this question a couple of weeks ago, and I took your advice to reach out to my University to help with a letter of support, and below was their reply:
"
Ironically, Legal got back to me today to say that they believe that there is a part of the Federal Code as it relates to F-1 work authorization that could be used to qualify your employment during OrganizationXXX transitional period.
This means that XXX University would be willing to make an argument on your behalf, if it were needed. However, unless the work comes up in future, there is nothing needed at this time from you or GVSU.
I hope that puts you at ease.
"
Question
Since they won't give me a letter of support because they say if need arises, the University's legal team would help me out, how do I answer the question on whether unauthorized employment occurred or not?
Thanks!
