DV 2025 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Hey ma'am

I am on B2 visa and will send my paperwork to USCIS this week, should I keep my bank statement or its not required.
regards

also as B2 status can apply for extension at the same time of AOS to be in status.

Regards
1. You should plan on including applicable financial documents to demonstrate you’re not likely to become a public charge.
2. What would be the basis of the B2 extension application?

Part of the extension paperwork requires you to explain why your stay will be temporary and your arrangements for leaving the US as it is a non immigrant status. Kind of hard to do if you’re applying for AOS.

kindly suggest what can i keep as financial document to support, as in US I just have bank statement.

USCIS Changes Validity Period for Any Form I-693 Signed on or after Nov. 1, 2023

Form I-693 signed by a civil surgeon on or after Nov. 1, 2023, is only valid while the application the form was submitted with is pending. If the application a Form I-693 was submitted with is withdrawn or denied, that Form I-693 is no longer valid. This guidance is effective immediately and applies to applications pending or filed on or after June 11, 2025.

Under this updated policy, if an applicant submits an I-693 with their I-485 application and then withdraws the I-485 or USCIS denies the AOS filing, if the applicant submits a future AOS application, they must submit a newly completed Form I-693 signed by a civil surgeon.

See Policy Alert Link for more about this update.

We are about to file using form I693s that were signed around 3 months ago.
Does this policy affect us - or does it only affect forms that have previously been submitted to USCIS

Thanks for the clarification. Since the new policy applies to applications filed on or after June 11, 2025, I understand it technically applies to us. But from what I’ve gathered, it mainly affects people trying to reuse a Form I-693 that was previously submitted with a different I-485 that was denied or withdrawn.

In our case, the I-693s were signed about 3 months ago and have never been submitted before. We're submitting them now for the first time along with our I-485. So based on the policy update, they should still be valid and acceptable — we’re not reusing anything, just filing now with sealed, properly dated forms.

Is that correct?

That is correct. Just make sure you’re using the correct edition of the I-693 based on when the Lockbox accepts your AOS package. Effective July 3rd, 2025, USCIS will only accept the 01/20/25 edition of the I-693.

Hello everyone! I just checked my status online and it says New Card Being Produced! I wanted to share my journey and timeline and hope it will help, because this forum helped me a lot and kept me sane this whole time. My case number was EU6XXX, case was current in January, but I filed my case on March 7th (because I was subject to 2 year home residency rule tied to my previous J1 visa). As soon as I got the favorable recommendation from Department of State, I included the screenshot and filed the AOS. March 21st it was transferred to Kansas City Field Office and March 24th I went for Biometrics. April 16 I talked to Senator's office and the USCIS said they are aware of DV deadlines and will prioritize and asked to follow up in 60 days from that date if no updates. I followed up with the Senator's office on Monday (June 9th) but still haven't heard from them, but the status changed to New Card Being Produced today (June 11). It took 96 days since the day I filed. No RFE, No Interview. Waiting for the card in the mail now!

Thank you for incredibly useful information and advise here!

Yes — we’re planning to do early filing to make sure it’s in before July 3rd. Really hoping the package gets accepted, because if it's rejected, we’ll need to redo the medicals, which would be a hassle.

We’ll definitely include an early filing cover letter, as you recommend in the spreadsheet. Out of curiosity, have you come across any cases where USCIS rejected an early filing even with a cover letter?

Yes.

I Still Confuse should i get i 864 affidavit of support or not as i am still on b2 status and want to send my AOS.

Kindly explain.
Did you take a look at the AOS process spreadsheet? There’s a list of recommended financial documents, an I-864 is not applicable to DV based AOS applications.

Hi all,

We have received notice of our interview for the AOS application. Would it be possible to request an expedited interview?

We filed on April 28. The interview is scheduled for July 22. But due to an emergency, (my father's illness) I need to leave by July 8.
Sorry to learn of your father's illness. Your interview is already expedited though considering when you filed. Anyway, you can try request an earlier interview date/time slot, no guarantee the request would be honored. They may ask you to reschedule for a later date. Do keep us updated.
