DV 2025 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

I'll leave the denial thing for the experts here. Personally, I don't think it's a ground for denial, especially if you bring the fixed tax transcripts to the interview and show good intent. But as I said, you must act on it. The sooner the better. With a AOS case or not.
Yeah I know I know. Let's see what happens...

Hi!

In the spreadsheet, there is a statement: "If you filed incorrectly, it is important that you amend (correct) your previous tax returns for all incorrect years. If you are in this situation, you likely owe money to the US government."

If this is the case - wrong twx return filing- is this a reason to get a denial for AOS? I just realized that my tax return form shows 1040 - did it in Jackson Hewitt - but honestly I had no idea. Some people say it should be 1040NR for F1 NR students. I will send last 3 years' tax return transcripts. Assuming everything else is fine and complete (clean history and records) just because this issue, will my AOS be denied?
The possibility of a denial cannot be ruled out, hence the callout to get the situation addressed.

I was checking old timelines and noticed in 2023, visa exhaustion happened really early. People who got their number current in June couldn't get the GC for that reason. What happened back then? Could it happen again this year?

In 2023, in May, Europe was 30k, Asia was 18750 and Africa was 60k. This year in May, Europe is 16k, Asia is 6k, Africa is 35k. Almost half figures for three regions.

Most probably this year it will not happen again - in my opinion. Numbers are too low for this year in every region comparing to previous years. Also thinking some bans against some countries, I think they still have plenty of GCs available. The only thing is that they may not issue all GCs available. We'll see.

Comparing cutoff in VB as metric of performance year-to-year is meaningless. Around this time of the year in FY23 there were 17.2k visas issued and ~22k cases scheduled for interview. For FY25 (today's data) 20k issued and 19.2k scheduled.

How can we see this data?

And also, is this DV lottery visas?? That's huge! I mean, available visas are around 50k, and if 20k already issued and almost 20k scheduled, then probably around 35-40k filled already. Then we don't need to wait our CN to become current, it's hopeless now.

I don’t think so. Keep in mind that we’re already almost halfway through its timeline, so the numbers make sense. I suppose the ban will definitely slow things down as well.

Don't panic. Scheduled number includes those that were issued already. They have to schedule ~68-70k people (or 31-32k cases) to get to 55k.

With deep search activated, Grok predicted August 26 as the visa depletion date based on the given data but did not account for the impact of the ban. Has it happened before this early?

I see. Thanks for the reply. It was very clear. My CN is EU23k. So it's still soooo hard to get a GC, especially after seeing low numbers so far, but waiting patiently.

Hello! everyone,
I have a similar question as furkan06. I only have an electronic copy of my birth certificate and a translated copy as my original is with my parents back home. Will that cause issue at interview.
Thank you.
I think someone who is professional in this thing can answer better than anyone else. Try to consult physically to relevant authorities .

Hi everyone,
I came to the U.S. with the humanitarian parole program and here I got the notification that I was selected for DV program. Because I came legally and I am in status and my visa is available, i filed for AOS. However, my parole was set to expire mid 2026, but with the president's order, it will now expire next month. I guess my question is, do i have to maintain status while my AOS application is pending? or im OK bc i filed while I was in status?

Thank you

Hi Everyone, My husband won the DV 2025 lottery, we got married only after he was selected. I know that the prevailing advice is to fill the DS-260 and then go forward from there. However, is there a way to do the adjustment of status without filling the DS-260?

Our CN (AS13xxx) may or may not become current based on the visa bulletin trend so we don't want to do it without being sure. So my question is, is it NECESSARY to complete the DS-260 in our case? If it's not necessary, how do we make the DV fee payment for the both of us when I wasn't on his initial DV application as his wife? Thanks in advance for any advice

It is not necessary in any case.

You can pay the fee for both and then see if you become current before submitting DS260, or you wait with paying - keep in mind that getting the payment receipt can take a while.

As far as I am concerned, paying the fee is technically immigration intent but not communicated to the relevant authorities (unlike a DS260 or I485 filing).

Mom may correct me but my understanding is that if you don’t fill in the Ds260 you won’t be added to his case. They won’t have any basis on which to do so and possibly even will reject his fee payment as being incorrect.

Hey, are you still waiting for a response?

What do you mean by this? Who communicates what to who in your understanding?

A search of an applicant for say a visa or extension of status will certainly link back to the DV fee payment.
