DV 2025 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Is there something we can do if some of our information changes after we have filed the i-485, but it is still pending?
I know the change of address form exists.
I am talking about other situations. For example in my friend's case, who is in F1 status, he will receive an updated i-485 after his CPT is approved for a summer internship, but by that time, he will have already submitted his i485.

He’s still in F1 status nonetheless, there’s nothing to report.

The new prefilled sample has since been uploaded in place of the previous version.
When I open the AOS Process Spreadsheet and go to the AOS Package tab, I see a link to a pre-filled sample I-485. When I open this PDF document, it's Edition 12/23/22 -- not Edition 10/24/24. Am I looking in the wrong place for the pre-filled 10/24/24 version?

Not sure why the new form didn’t get uploaded as intended. Will look into it later on. Here’s a direct link in the interim:

From memory of previous ones, it doesn’t because USCIS is self-funded rather than using federal funds. Those fees you pay keep it going...
Do they conduct background checks themselves or they collaborate with other government agencies? I'm afraid some delays will happen during this phase of the process.

Perfect! Thank you

In Part 9, some questions are contigent on the previous question being answered 'yes'. For example, Q29 is to be answered only if Q28 is answered 'yes'. But in the sample I-485 I see that even if Q28 is 'no', Q29 is still being answered. Why? I would have thought to leave it blank.

You can leave it blank, if not applicable, or still go ahead and fill in the same response as the previous question as done on the sample form. Makes no difference to the process.

hi Mom!

DV2025 EU25k already in the US on a NIV, I am assuming traveling to the virgin island (or puerto rico) is not considered leaving the US for AOS, just want to make sure that's the right conclusion... thanks for what you do, very appreciated.

Make sure you mean USVI and not BVI.

Your question is not quite clear to me. I don’t understand what you mean by “is not considered leaving the US for AOS”.

If the question is about if traveling to Puerto Rico (for instance) without an approved AP while AOS application is pending will not lead to the AOS application being deemed abandoned, the immediate answer is YES. However, you’ll need to be certain your transport carrrier will not be making a stop at a foreign country in the course of your travel. In general, I wouldn’t recommend undertaking such a trip without an approved AP because flights can always be diverted due to any kind of unforeseen circumstances, the plane could be diverted to a non-US territory. While this was not the original plan, the stopover can cause the AOS application to be deemed abandoned.

Hello Sm1smom ! Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. I was selected as a winner of DV-2025, and the reason I could apply was because my husband was born in one of the eligible countries (not myself). Since I was selected but not my husband, am I considered the main applicant for the AOS process? I am on H1B visa and my husband is on F1 visa.

Also, my CN is AS15XXX. Do you think we should pay the DV administrative fees now? Look forward to hearing from you.

You are both considered principal applicants in a case like this, because your eligibility is dependent on your spouse. That means both of you need to meet the requirements.

have you gone through the AOS process spreadsheet in detail?

Susie’s response re both you and your husband being considered as main selectee is correct. This however is in terms of meeting the eligibility requirements. For the AOS process, you will fill out your I-485 and file as the main applicant while your spouse fills out their I-485 and file as your derivative.

I can’t help you decide on when to make the DV payment. This is a decision you’ll need to make on your own since the payment is non-refundable.

Thank you. Since I am currently on H1B visa, do I need to submit my past I-20s, or will I-797 be sufficient?

And how high do you think my CN AS15XXX is? Thanks!!

1. Please use your discretion in submitting documents that help demonstrate you’ve continually maintained a legal presence in the US.

2. I don’t analyze CNs, so I can’t tell you how high your CN is, which is why I earlier on responded by letting you know I can’t help you determine the right time to make the DV payment.

Dear Mom,

I have a question about current immigration status section of I-485. A family came to US under U4U, however, before U4U extension was announced they filed TPS (approved), and when U4U extension was announced they also filed for extension and got is approved. During all this period they never went out of status. What should they indicate in section for current status? U4U and TPS? should they provide any explanation on their current status at the end of application in designated space?

Thank you in advance
