DV 2025 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

It is very sad, and we are lucky to be in a somewhat better circumstances than many of the people I interact with daily. At least, for now.

I just got a response from Montreal. They are asking for proof of ability to Travel to Canada and remain there for reasonable processing time, which I think our visa satisfies. I'm really tempted to go for it.
That sounds promising. I would continue engaging with Montreal (even if you're not quite ready to move forward with the option at this point) by letting them know you already have a visitor's visa, and if admitted for the full duration allowed, that should be six months, which is more or less of what is left of this FY.

Hello everyone,

just providing an update on our congressional inquiries:

My wife got the same response minus the RFE part last week on Feb. 28 (so after 7 days) while for me it took about a month.

"Thank you for your February 21, 2025 inquiry about the status of the Form I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status) filed by your constituent, XXX. The St. Louis Field Office will make all efforts to complete adjudication of the Form I-485 prior to September 30, 2025, the expiration date for eligibility under the fiscal year 2025 Diversity Visa Lottery Program."

1. Does this mean one of our background checks is stuck or could this be anything?
2. What would be our next steps? Further inquiries at some point?

On a side note, as part of the legal immigration crackdown, I'm expecting the definition of public charge to be revised in alignment with was put in place during this administration's previous time in the office.
Mom, most of us here in the forum now probably not aware what happened last time. Doing a quick search of all posts, do you mean reintroduction of Form I-944?

I'm adjusting from F-1 student on the basis of high school graduation (not employment). The AOS Process spreadsheet (AOS package tab) says, if applicable, include copy of employment verification letter and copy of SSN. I am doing authorized work on campus and have an SSN. I will have an I-134 sponsor.

1. Should I include a copy of employment verification letter from my university and a copy of SSN - are these applicable in my case?
2. I am using a sponsor, so do I need to also include my own recent bank statements, recent pay slips, etc.?

1. It could mean that, or not. It could mean the FO is understaffed, or not. It could mean the FO is planning on bunching up their DV based AOS applications and waiting to fill later in the FY before adjudicating them. Basically could mean nothing outside of what it says.
2. Continue to patiently wait for case adjudication. Check in now and then with Emma.

Optional.

Hello! I am preparing my folder, and organizing everything one by one to make sure that the reviewer would find everything easily. I used separators like these and separate documents basically by type. I know on USCIS's website it says "Do not use binders or folders that we cannot easily disassemble."

Do you find what I am doing good and acceptable, or would the reviewer/officer find it tedious?

The forms and supporting documents gets scanned and uploaded online as soon as the package is accepted by Lockbox. Your assigned IO isn’t going to be reviewing application based on what you put together.

I meant the person who will scan these.

Hello Mom. We still haven't received any response from USCIS, what other steps can I take, should I submit the Congressional inquiry ? And I also wanted to write that at the beginning of February we spoke with TIER 2, and he said that if we don't receive anything by the end of July, we can contact them again.
Do it it takes time for them to respond. 120 days for me and still no updates. Can you tell me what's TIER 2? Maybe I can try that out as well.

Yes you can initiate a congressional inquiry at this point.

Meanwhile, have you taken a look at some of the past Timeline spreadsheets to see how long on average it took other applicants from the same FO as you to complete the process?

Hi Mom and all,
Oct 1st filer for Los Angeles FO (case is in sheet).

Is the below an indication that Los Angeles does batch processing, and they wait until April each year to start scheduling interviews?

For DV2020 to DV2024, these are the months an interview notice was received (in order from October - September):
November: 1
February: 2

April: 4
May: 6
June: 5
July: 12
August: 9
September: 2

Total of 41.

---------

Other than 3 notices, all others (including cases filed in early October) were scheduled for April 15th at earliest each year, and then there was a gradual amount of interview notices received each month from April onwards.

Is this a strong indication that Los Angeles FO waits until April 1st (start of 2nd half of their year) to start sending out their DV interview notices each year? Does this confirm they do batch processing?

Seeing as we filed October 1st and case has been at LA FO since October 31st (confirmed with Emma), would it be fair to say we should expect our interview notice around back half of April or early May, if they start scheduling DVs from April 1st?

---------

I wasn't aware that batch processing was something FOs did until you mentioned it (thank you for that!) so just want to confirm my thinking is correct and this is how it works?

Thank you so much for your help as always (:

Yes, the LA FO is one of those FOs that tend to batch DV based AOS applications together for later in the FY before adjudicating.

Fantastic, thank you!

So I'd assume it would be pointless submitting congressional inquiry until late May or so, as we'd expect to get interview notice mid April to early May?

Yes, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to wait until late April to early May before initiating a congressional inquiry if you’ve had no update by then.
