DV 2025 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Hello,

I wanted to ask about future options for following up. I am the Derivate, my spouse is the primary applicant / selectee. For both of us, the last viewed/worked on date is the day RFE for marital evidence was issued to me as the derivate mid-November.

So far, we only did a congressional inquiry for me because there has been no response or acknowledgement of my RFE response back in November. Should we do anything on her case, or plan for it?

Hello everyone,

Could someone tell me how to contact USCIS to expedite my case? And what are the common reasons that are acceptable to do so?

Thank you!

Hello everyone!

I know it might be one of the commonly asked question and I’m just panicking with still no direct answers found here - but how long does it usually take for Chicago USCIS Center to process the I-485 package for the current DV win number in case of the family of three?

My package has been marked as delivered by USPS since Jan 20, however I don’t see any replies from USCIS via emails yet and money orders are still uncashed.

Some chatbots told me I should expect 1-6 weeks response time (I-797 notice with case number), not sure if that’s right. So it would be great to know other members experience.
Thanks and good to know.
Sorry, I’m confused: what’s Emma?
1. I recommend you add your case updates to the 2025 Timeline spreadsheet, this will enable you compare your case progress to those of others also on the spreadsheet.
2. I recommend you go through the AOS process spreadsheet to further help you understand the steps involved with the process.

Have you had any updates from your congressional inquiry? Just wait for that first.

DV based AOS cases already get expedited by USCIS, compared to all other types of AOS applications. Anyway, link below regarding case expediting.

I recommend you add your case to the 2025 Timeline spreadsheet as this will enable you compare your case progress to those of others also on the spreadsheet.

My interview was scheduled for today

  • I-485 filed on October 4 ,2024, interview scheduled January 10th ,2025 at 1 :45 PM
  • I tried not to over dressed just black Trouser, Blue and white strip shirt with winter jacket
  • Arrived at 12:13 PM for 1 :45 PM interview too early but they say “early is on time , on time is late, late is unacceptable. “
  • The security women informed me , my earliest check in is 1:15 PM so I googled the nearest cafe and had oversea family call
  • I went back to USCIS at 1:08 PM , they let me me in to the security gate
  • I took off my shoe , bent something close to TSA security check at the gate
  • After security gate , I used the bathroom, they have the cleanest for a public place
  • Then I went to a window to check in gave her my interview notice . she took my interview notice , scanned it ,took fingerprints both right and left index fingers . She said take off your glass , I smiled and I said I don’t have one . She replied that is what I say for everyone. Then she took a picture of me .
  • she gave me a ticket and told me , he will call me from door b (that is when I know my IO Gender will be men )
  • After an hours and 20 minutes since ticket given , they call me at the window and said they have not gotten the KCC file yet. they thought they would get it by the time of the interview so they said to wait until further notice .
Any update on your case?

I’m worried my TPS will be terminated soon and I won’t get approval before Oct 2025 ( or worst situation dv applicants will also be terminated? I just imagine I know I might be overthinking ). Do you think when should I start asking uscis to expedite my case? I filed on 10/27.
Thank you so much!

Not yet. They inquired exactly a week ago.

Somehow this got me worried that it’s not moving or being looked at at all since responding to the RFE… anything this implies?

So we should wait for the response and then potentially inquire on my wife’s case?

They can't terminate DV lottery this easily. Even if they pass the law to terminate the entire program, I'm pretty sure 2025 winners are safe.

AFAIK Trump attempted to terminate the DV program in his first term and was unsuccessful.

Unlikely to terminate it, but he can make life difficult for some selectees like last time with the Muslim ban and then using the excuse of covid backlogs to de-prioritize DV interviews at consulates. However - none of those restrictions as I recall related to people doing AOS, only consular processing.

Hello again,

In last 2.5 years in the US, I received two citations, one for speeding (plead guilty, paid $144) and one for parking (plead guilty, paid something around $45). I did not keep the tickets or any records, and I have nothing as supporting document. They are below $500 and according to the spreadsheet, I may not need to file anything as supporting document for these two, but still do you think that I should ask for an official driver record history and add it to my AOS application? On I-485 form, I stated both in additional information, but I am still not sure if I should add a supporting document.

Thanks!

I was a DV23 winner as an F1 student. I submitted my I-485, and my appointment was scheduled for September. However, the visa numbers were exhausted before my interview date. Now, my visa is about to expire, and I plan to return home to renew it.

  1. Could filing the I-485 affect my chances of getting my visa renewed?
  2. Based on your experience, have people successfully renewed their visas after filing an I-485?
Thank you for your assistance.

From USCIS I-485 instructions

"
In general, you do not need to submit documentation relating to traffic fines and incidents that did not involve an
actual physical arrest if the penalty was only a fine of less than $500 or resulted in points on your driver’s license.
However, you must submit such documentation if the traffic incident resulted in criminal charges or involved alcohol,
drugs, or injury to a person or property

Not necessary, the citations are below $500.

The demonstrated immigrant intent could possibly lead to a NIV application denial.

I am expecting to file i485 based on DV lottery soon. I don't know when my case will be current but if it happens sometime during upcoming summer, I am confused about my address situation. I am expecting to move temporarily for summer internship and then move back to my original address. Should I file AR-11 for that 3 months and then again after I move back to original address or just let it be? Can someone help me navigate this? I might have someone trusted to check my mails in original address though if that makes any difference

If you're still on a lease, don't change your driver license and don't update your mailing address (e.g. with USPS) then I believe you should be fine

There’s no need to file an AR-11 if the move is a temporary one and you’ll be returning to the same address. Use the original address for your AOS filing so as to not needlessly complicate the process for yourself.
