DV 2025 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Hi everyone, my husband is the main DV selectee, and I am his derivative. We sent in our I-485 package, and it got delivered on 08/01/2025, we got the acceptance text on 08/05/2025. Today, we spoke to a live agent and got his Biometrics appointment date as 08/25/2025. We will reschedule it for an earlier date. We had a couple of questions:
1. My (the derivatives) biometrics appointment has not been scheduled. Is this normal?
2. Can the interview be scheduled only if BOTH of our biometrics are completed?

I noticed someone mentioned making a follow-up to ask why they haven’t received an interview date after biometrics. I’d like to ask—how long should one wait before making such a follow-up?

We completed our biometrics on 7/29, and our case became current this August. Our field office is in Wichita, KS. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any processing history for the Wichita FO in the spreadsheet, so I’m unsure how long cases here typically take to move forward.

My questions are:

When is the right time to make a follow-up—after how many weeks?

And who should I contact—Emma or the Wichita, KS Field Office?

Your applications are separate, yet connected. Your bio appointment should be scheduled shortly. Since you now know the date for your spouse, log into your own USCIS account and try use that same date to reschedule your appointment to see if the system lets you, as it is possible for it to have been scheduled and the live agent just was not able to see it.

1. There's no one size fits all response in terms of after how many days/weeks/months should an applicant initiate a follow-up. Since your CN became current in August, I think you can still wait till the end of the month to see if you'll get an update or not, following which if there's no update, you should initiate a congressional case assistance inquiry.
2. You may contact EMMA now if you like - there's no direct access to the FOs.

Thank you! I tried to reschedule on my account, it says "Appointment not found". I guess we'll need to wait for it to get scheduled

Did you receive separate acceptance notification text/NOA for both you and your husband's applications, or only one was received?

How can someone go about making a congressional inquiry?

Hi Simon, I think it is possible, BUT it depends on quite a couple of factors such as the FO with jurisdiction over the case, how soon this person can get their medical exam completed which determines how soon they can file - they cannot file without the medical report, that is no longer allowed. If they're able to file no later than the end of this week and the FO is traditionally one of those that is quick with the adjudication process, then I'll say they should give AOS a shot. It will mean filing without the Administrative fee receipt though (since it takes a while to get), that will impact being approved without an interview, or possibly further delay the approval process.

If CP is guaranteed to be expedited, they may be better off going that route.
Thanks Mom -great input. I just had a call with this lucky winner and he most likely going to use the AOS route. So - I read him your comments and he will be looking to get the medical done - he needs to focus on the critical path items. He'll register here and announce himself, and fill in any background he can.

Just to chime in here, the medical can take some time. It definitely added a good week or so onto our timelines.

We had the blood tests back within about 2 days but then one of the tests failed and my wife had to get tested again. So it ended up taking almost 2 weeks to really get it fully done. We felt that this process was handled basically as fast as it could've been. Maybe you could have it done in 1 week at best.

So that's probably worth keeping in mind.

He should get cracking with the medical exam right away. Find a CS with the earliest available slot, this is not the time for penny pinching - so even if he has to travel a bit of a distance I'll recommend he jump on it. Also get the money order for the Administrative fee payment and send that in ASAP by courier - next day delivery. Use the same method for the SASE that will be used in sending back the receipt.

We'll be on the lookout for the fella and help him as best as we can.

Hello Mom,

I received a message with my receipt number on 08/04/25, stating that my case was received on 07/31/25. I got the NOA letter on 08/08/25. However, I haven’t received a biometrics appointment date yet.

I contacted a live agent and asked about it. The response was:
"At this time, biometrics have not been scheduled for your case. USCIS will mail you a notice with instructions detailing whether you are required to appear at a USCIS ASC for biometrics collection."

Is that normal? I’ve seen that some people receive their biometrics appointments very quickly. Should I be worried?

Thank you! (I sent my AOS package to the Chicago lockbox and current is in August)

Hello guys, usps says my package was delievered on aug 6th 6pm last tuesday. i still havent received any notification from uscis yet(text or emails) i included my g1145, anybody can help me understand? thank you

Yes, it is normal. Add your case data to the Timeline spreadsheet to give us better visibility into your case progress.

Yes case was delivered, it however hasn't been processed/accepted by USCIS - that is why you're yet to receive acceptance notification.

p.s. update your case data on the Timeline spreadsheet.

It was kind of strange, I (derivative) got the texts for both myself and my husband. He didn't receive a text, even though we submitted the G-1145 for both of us individually. We didn't get the NOA letter yet, but we did get a USPS notification that two letters are on the way, one for each of us.

I have another question please, it's about setting up the online USCIS account. We already have accounts with USCIS for our OPT. Can we just add the AOS case to that online account using the new receipt number? We tried this, but there is no "Documents" tab, so we're wondering if it's just because no notices have been uploaded yet, or because we're missing something. Just to add some context, this is the account we used to reschedule the bio appointment.

1. You, as the derivative, receiving all the notifications is not strange. The acceptance text or email notifications all get sent to one person, could be the main selectee or the derivative. So your experience is not unusual.

2. These usually no documents tab for DV based AOS application online account.
