DV 2023 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Hi mom, I would appreciate it if you could kindly let me know the bank statement which I provided from my saving in my country came back to when I cam to US around 6 months ago. Does it require to get a new one or this is okay?
Those would be considered old. You should obtain updated bank statements.

If you’re certain about switching to AOS, you’ll need to move fast by informing KCC of your plan to switch from CP to AOS before they go ahead and schedule you for a CP interview. You may initially get a couple of non-relevant responses back from KCC, but they will eventually acknowledge the decision to switch. Again, you’ll need to contact KCC right away.

When did you arrive in the US on your F1 visa, and when did you receive receive your above response from KCC?

Thank you for your quick response.
I arrived in USA end of July 2022.
I received response from KCC last week

Hi mom, many thanks indeed for your time. I am self fund researcher (j1), taking 10,000 $ award from the organization where I am currently doing research. Kindly please let me know should I fill the employment history?

You can list your research work under the employment history, you can also opt to not list it (if you wish to consider yourself a student). It wouldn't be an issue either way. In addition, if you have employment history from back home prior to your research work in the US, you should list that also.

You may need to redo the medical exam since the current 2 year validity of medical reports due to COVID-19 comes to end end on March 31st. Unless there’s another extension, the 60 days validity will kick back in.

Yes you may file, if you wish to take advantage of early filing. Be sure to learn more about early filing by going through the AOS Process Spreadsheet.

a) I have my birth certificated translated, do I need to put a copy of the translated document or, the original translated document.
b) Also, I did education evaluation for my diploma and degree certificate. They provided a copy for me and a copy in sealed envelope. Should I provide a copy of my 'self copy' or, the sealed packet when I sent it to lockbox?

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions, any help on any of them is appreciated.

Form I-485:
1. What is A-number? Do I have it? L1 Visa.
2. What exactly do I type in Item 25.a - "Addmitted as" field? "Worker" and "Spouse of worker"? L1 visa for me and L2 for my spouse.
3. Do I add several entries in the "Employment" part if I was employed by the same employer but in different countries?
4. Do I add an entry to "Employment" if my wife was self-employed? Do I leave the "Date to" blank for the current employer?
5. Do I add several entries in the "Employment" part if I was employed by the same employer but with different positions ("Teacher" and "Teacher Assistant")?
6. What is included into the Household liabilities? Is my current lease for an apartment included? 3 months left in the lease, do I just count all of these months rent to "liabilities"?
7. Certifications, skills - do I just liberally write any professional skills I consider valid?
8. If I need extra space - do I just copy print an extra "Part 14" and leave the same page number there?
9. I don't remember the exact apartment number for my address - do I just specify the building and that's it?

Supporting documents:
10. Should I send the I-485 before or after receiving DV fee check from DoS?
11. Birth certificate, High school diploma, Uni diploma, Marriage certificate - are all of these required? Can I submit a printed photo if I don't have the document on hand?
12. Can I translate and certify the documents myself? If yes, how do I certify it? Is there some instruction/document from USCIS regarding this?
13. Is Employment Verification Letter required?
14. My wife only works part time, do I have to file an I-134 sponsor form for her as Evidence of Financial Support?

1. I live within the us and won the lottery, i want to adjust status... do i wait till my visa bulletin number is shown? my number is for asia in the 28,000. But asia has been in 15,500 for two months, is that normal? it didnt move up.
2. I paid 330 for each family member and got a receipt accepting payment for 2 persons. but i paid everything in money order. do i need to pay something else?

1&2: really doesn’t matter, as long as whichever copy you include is quite clear and legible.

1. You wouldn’t have an A# if you’ve never applied for any form of immigration benefit from USCIS, so leave the section blank.
2. Alien Worker.
3. You probably should since you’re talking about different countries.
4. You could do that if she was self employed, you could also leave it empty. Date to for current employe.
5. Please use your discretion.
6. Liabilities = debts you currently owe. House lease wouldn’t necessarily be a debt because leases can be broken, and the 3 months you have left is in the future. Plus if you’re to count those 3 months, what about the months after?
7. Yes.
8. Yes.
9. That is fine.
10. Your call. Take a look at the FAQ section of the AOS Process Spreadsheet for more on this.
11. Clear legible copies are required to be included with the AOS package, while the original versions should be taken along to the interview.
12. That is not recommended - using a third party with no vested interest in your GC outcome is recommended.
13. It is recommended.
14. No.

Received my card in the mail today :D (without ever receiving tracking information)! Still waiting for my spouse's card to arrive, but hopeful that it'll come soon. To everyone still in the process, wishing you good luck with the rest of your journey :)

I just want to say a big thank you to @Sm1smom and everyone in this forum! It's truly been so helpful and the AOS spreadsheet is such a fantastic and comprehensive resource! :)

hi

1. I just noticed that in my I-485 I checked 25a : "was inspected at a port entry and admitted " but didn't entered "alien worker" [left blank by mistake], in 26a-c I put my I-94 number, and status L-1A etc. Is it a deal breaker or something which can be amended on the interview?
