DV 2023 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

The journey has been tough but you have always been with us, giving us hope and guidance, not to mention it's for free. May the happiness you help bring to people's faces be a blessing to you always. I am glad to be part of this forum. I would like to know if there's a way one can donate to the forum.

Mom advised it's best to use the official USCIS notification system. The app is a third party. I had deleted the app but seems I forgot to delete my account that's why I got the notification from them.

when u asked for an expedite, you didn't get an email that ask about proof documents?

Congratulations!! Eagerly waiting for the same news. Regarding the unsolicited letter, Did you just post in the USCIS field office address?

Hi @naksvegas can I contact you privately? I didn't quite understand what you did (I didn't know it was possible to request an expedite through Emma or use an app) and I would like to know how to do that too because I am still waiting to receive my e-notification and NOA and I am going crazy :(
Or @Sm1smom if you know and want to explain it to me I would really appreciate it.

Hello everyone!

I’d like to start by saying a big thank you to Sm1smon and other forum members who help me throughout this process. This journey would’ve been tougher without your support and help, again thank you from the deep bottom of my heart.
So, here’s my timeline from the Portland, Oregon FO and my case number was current in January (I’m line 19 on the spreadsheet):

- January 04th, 2023: AOS package was delivered
- January 28th, 2023: NOA letter was received
- February 14th, 2023: Fingerprints were taken
- May 30th, 2023: Status online changed to “RFIE was sent” (while another member of this forum from my same FO had her status online changed to “new card is being produced” that same day)
- June 2nd, 2023: The RFIE was received, asking for my birth certificate, it seems like what I sent in my package wasn’t an official birth certificate
- June 16th, 2023: The RFIE was delivered to USCIS
- June 23rd, 2023: Status online changed to “We received your correspondence for Form I-485 and USCIS is reviewing it”
- July 11th, 2023: Status online changed to “New Card is Being Produced“
- July 21st, 2023: GC was received in the mail!

I hope my journey helps current/future AOSers, especially since there’s not many members from Portland, OR Field office in the forum. But overall, thank you very much for your help and support Sm1smom, and I wish all the best to anyone in the waiting!

Similar to how you request for case status or Tier 2 call back through Emma, I explained my long wait after the interview. I then requested the officer to submit an expedition request on my behalf to my FO. I was asked the reason for my expedition request (similar to the list of reasons you see on the website), to which I answered "other reason" and explained it.

PS. I was informed there's no guarantee my request will be approved and in case of further requirements, I would receive an email.

What files does KCC send to USCIS upon request ? Does KCC send Visa number for Applicant along with KCC files or how does it works ?
 
I received a letter from the San Francisco field office this afternoon for my I-485 interview. Hopefully, the remaining SF applicants get their letters within the next week.

I also received a call from a Tier II officer this morning. The officer mentioned that they're aware of the timeline for DV applicants and to not worry about the potential visa exhaustion. The officer mentioned that once you've submitted the payment to the KCC they will allocate a number to you for your I-485 application. He told me there was a glitch in their system where in a previous year under the Obama Administration that applicants who had already paid the DV fee, I-485 fee, and had been interviewed were denied due to visa exhaustion. He told me that this is something we should not worry about. He said that if we do not have an interview or anything by September 15th to make sure we get in contact with USCIS to ensure we don't miss out on this opportunity.

Interesting. What's the significance of the number that gets allocated to you when it comes to remaining visas? If he's saying visa exhaustion isn't anything to worry about then that implies a visa is reserved once you pay the fee, which is contrary to what everyone has been saying. Or was he only talking about those who have a decision pending, rather than those waiting for their IL?

He said that the Kentucky Consular Center basically allocates a visa number for an adjustment of status candidate once the payment has been made. The letter you receive from KCC advising you to adjust status when your case is current is their way of telling you that they're allocating a visa number for an adjustment status candidate. This is what the officer told me this morning. He seemed very knowledgeable about the DV program AOS.
