DV 2023 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Hello Sm1smom,

My CN is 2023AF54XXX, I sent my package to USCIS on 5/4/2023 so far I still haven't had the feedback. I'm already thinking about filling out Form I-824 to do the FTJ for my family, is the time right? or should i wait until they process my GC, this is how i should do the FTJ. Thank you

You had the option of concurrent filing of the I-824 with your AOS package (that both has sailed since you did not do so). You have the option of filing the I-824 after receiving the NOA (acceptance receipt) for your filed AOS. You also have the option of waiting until your AOS has been approved before filing the I-824 (assuming the FY is not yet over at that point). I cannot tell you which of those options you should or could select. The best I can do, and which I already did, was to point you in the direction of previous selectees who attempted FTJ and the outcomes of those attempts - I already provided you the links to those to enable you read up and make your own decision.

Please Sm1smom, just bear with me a little bit, the link you sent me from the FTJ of the previous cases I'm not understanding very well, please calm down, give me more light, I don't want to do anything wrong, I'm worried about my family, help me explain in simple words how I should do it. In addition to the I-824 form, what other documents should I add, once I have a NOA (Receipt of Acceptance) I will send it right away. Help me please

Maybe point to the exact point where you are "not understanding very well" and forum members can help you? This just seems that you didn't bother spending time and reading those thoroughly.

PS:
I don't want to do anything wrong
No one wants to do things wrong. The key is to spend time and read it!

I will appreciate your not asking me to "calm down" - I find it quite insulting considering I am not agitated.

The Tracker I referred you to has information about past selectees who tried FTJ, and the outcomes of their attempts. It contained links of their experiences, I'm not sure if you bothered to open up the links to read of their accounts. I expect, based on the information provided there, you will try to do so more searches on your own on the applicable past AOS threads to get some additional information about them. If you had any specific question after going through the tracker, I expected you to come back to the thread and ask, but you did not.

Also, the FAQ section of the AOS Process Spreadsheet has the below information (these is all the info I've provided others with in the past, it is the same information I'm providing you with - you need to figure out the rest on your own please):

What is FTJ? / What do I need to be aware of with FTJ?FTJ (Follow To Join) process allows for the principal selectee to process their selection via AOS while the derivatives process through CP. Derivatives' CP can only begin after the principal selectee has successfully completed their AOS process. FTJ can be quite stressful, it will require you to be very proactive in order for it to succeed.
** Following your AOS case approval, your IO will need to forward your case file to the embassy with jurisdiction over your derivatives' home address. You will need to speak up and let them know your spouse is processing FTJ, you can’t assume they already know. The embassy contacts your derivative to schedule their interview, KCC does not schedule the embassy interview for the derivative
** Your IO may insist you file an I-824 first before your AOS case file gets sent over to the embassy (there's an additional fee associated with filing an I-824). Some IOs have been quite nice and helpful by not insisting on an I-824 before forwarding the AOS case file.
** Some past FTJ fillers proactively filed the I-824 concurrently with their I-485
** After sending in your AOS package, proactively email the KCC to inform them you made the DV administrative fee for yourself alone and did not include the payment for your derivative(s) because they will be processing FTJ (see the section below about email from the KCC asking for explanation to better understand what should be included in the email to KCC)
** Take a look at the "Follow To Join" tab/section of the DV Tracker - Unique Situations Spreadsheet to see a compilation of some past FTJ cases. Take a look at all the forum links provided for each case to help you better prepare for your case.
FTJ LinksTravel.State.Gov - Section under Can my spouse and children still apply under the Diversity Visa program?https://fam.state.gov/fam/09FAM/09FAM050206.html

Do I have to pay the $330 Administrative fee for my derivative who is processing FTJ?Family members living overseas will pay the diversity immigrant visa fees at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where they will receive their visa. The fee for these family members must not be paid in the United Stateshttps://travel.state.gov/content/tr...djustment-of-status-in-the-united-states.html
US DOS - Bureau of Consular Affairs
I got an email from KCC or my IO asking me to explain why I did not make the DV administrative fee payment for my derivative(s) processing FTJRespond back to the email and inform the KCC/your IO that your derivative is currently based outside the US (state where they are based) and will be processing FTJ, their DV administrative cannot be paid in the US as they will need to make the payment when they attend their FTJ interview at the embassy. Include the reference/link from the US DOS - Bureau of Consular Affairs which says:
"Family members living overseas will pay the diversity immigrant visa fees at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where they will receive their visa. The fee for these family members must not be paid in the United States"

Exactly!!

Hello Sm1smom, I just have to thank you for this explanation, I read it but I didn't understand it well but now I'm very clear. I sincerely apologize if I said something you didn't like.
Thank you very much

Hello @Sm1smom , I recently got my green card. Thanks for your help. I also got my SSN today but it still says Valid for work with DHS permission only. Shouldn't I have gotten non restricted SSN card? Please advise.
1. That happens often, you need to visit your SS office to fix that.
2. It seems that the information on this forum was useful for you. So, the real "Thank you" would be to add your info to the timeline for others to use.

I would have loved to add my Timeline but it says you can't edit any content.

Congratulations. Consider adding your data to the Timeline spreadsheet to benefit others same way you benefitted from this forum.

@Sm1smom ,
Should I please go ahead with the request?
I suppose you can. The good news is the new address will not lead to a change of FO, that was the main reason for my previous question re the address update. They may still send your correspondence to your previous address though even after the change of address, so be aware of that.

Hello Mom,
I have a question about the court records/ documents. I'm Moroccan and I immigrated to the USA in 2021.
1. do I need a court record also from the USA or just from Morocco.
2. if I need one from the USA, how I could get it?
Thanks

Certified Police and Court Records required ONLY IF you have ever been arrested, charged, or convicted.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the efforts you put in this forum.

I had to file an extension for my Tax return for 2022. Now, when I am sending my AOS package, what would you suggest to do in order to show the reason my 2022 tax report is missing? Is it appropriate to write a letter in Word and explain the reason? (my reason for the extension was that I was waiting for a corrected W-2 form).

Thanks
