DV 2023 All Selectees (Consular Processing - CP)

Hi Mom
I am AS4K and current from Jan 2023. But I have not received my 2NL yet (as I submitted DS260 late in Nov 2022). I am the principal with location Sri Lanka and I have added my son in the application from location Montreal in Canada as he is currently residing there for studies. As per your earlier advice on whether to do FTJ for my son as KCC wrote to me, We have decided to try and get him down to join me at our interview in Sri Lanka. However I still have not updated his interview location to Sri Lanka from Montreal. As I am already current, do I really have to ask KCC to do the location update for him? Or can I just take him along for my interview? Do I need to inform the Sri Lankan embassy of the change of location when I get my interview?

Please clarify. Thank you so much

Also, just realised that the status in CEAC site for my son is 'Accompany'. So is all OK and it is not yet considered as FTJ? In the event I have to resort to FTJ (unlikely scenario) do I have to change this status?

thanks for the quick reply!

More questions.
I'm EU17XXX. I will be current in March. Embassy is Madrid, Spain. I'll add my wife as derivative post selection.
I haven't submitted the DS-260 yet. I want to avoid the interview in April due to a medical matter.

1. How long should the DS-260 processing take now on average?
2. I've read that 2NL is received 4-6weeks in advance. Exist the possibility to receive the 2NL less than 4 weeks before the interview date?
3. The embassy keeps the passport after the interview, right?
4. Assuming everything goes well and GC approved, the passport is generally returned within 2 weeks after the interview?
5. If GC is approved, the embassy adds a visa to the passport?

Thank you!
1. A couple of months. If you’re serious about this, you’re better off sending in your DS260 form right away.
2. Yes. It has happened before.
3. Usually.
4. Usually.
5. “GC” is not approved by the embassy, you don’t get a GC until after you’ve become a LPR. You become a LPR after you’ve entered the US with your issued immigrant visa. So if the interview is successful, an immigrant visa gets stamped on your passport before it gets returned to you.

AFAIK, regardless of the selected embassy on a derivative’s DS260, the derivative will be scheduled for their interview with the main selectee. The derivative’s form will not be treated differently than the main selectee themselves.

Also, just realised that the status in CEAC site for my son is 'Accompany'. So is all OK and it is not yet considered as FTJ? In the event I have to resort to FTJ (unlikely scenario) do I have to change this status?
As far as KCC is concerned, your son will be accompanying you, they’re not treating your son’s case as a FTJ. I thought that was clear in their email response where they explained you’ll need to make the arrangements between the Sri Lanka US embassy and that of Montreal for your case file to get sent over and to get his interview scheduled if you wish to treat his case as FTJ.

Their exact reply to my query on my sons interview location is as follows. So I was under the impression that he himself has to initiate the process in Montreal.
"The beneficiary must go to the embassy at which he or she wishes to process the case and request for the follow-to join process to be initiated. Once requested, the embassy will obtain the necessary documentation from the applicant. The proper procedures will be implemented to ensure that the case is processed accordingly."

Anyway as we are trying somehow for him to join us for the main applicant interview, I will not request a change of location for my son. We will let it be as Montreal in the DS-260 and get him down to attend the interview in Sri Lanka once scheduled.

Thanks for the quick clarification, Sm1smom.

“Himself” as your derivative. “Yourself” as the main selectee. It is all the same in terms of who contacts the embassy. The email is basically saying KCC plays no role in a FTJ process, like I earlier on explained. The only thing KCC will do is schedule the interview at the embassy with jurisdiction over the main selectee’s home address. If the selectee (or their derivative) wishes to attend the interview at another embassy other than the one originally scheduled, the selectee/derivative will need to initiate the move on their own.

Hi guys. I would like to travel to another country for work purposes. My ds-260 is already submitted, but not processed. Do I need to unlock and update after I travel?

Thanks again sm1smom. We will try to get my son down for the main applicant interview and I will not request any change of location on the derivative location in his DS260.

Thanks

Without knowing the name of the country you’re going to for work or the duration of the trip, plus your information/travel history being correct as at the time of the DS260 submission, and the fact that your CN is already current (while you’re waiting to be scheduled for an interview), I don’t think you need to unlock the DS260 form. You can update it when you go for your interview.

Thank you for your response. I plan to travel to Qatar. I have been there before, and indicated it in my ds-260. Thanks, I'll update at the interview

Mudanya

What do you want to update then? You only list countries where you've traveled, you do not need to enter travel dates, unless you stay there for months.

Lovely friends, I recently received an email with the date of my interview, and I wanted to thank the person here that helped ease my stress by answering my questions a few weeks ago. Today, I registered my delivery address on the embassy website by creating an account and filling out a form. However, the dashboard on my account still says that no interview is scheduled, and I'm not sure if I need to fill out any other form besides the delivery address registration. Is it okay if it still says that no interview is scheduled, and is the interview letter from KCC enough? I've checked all the other options and it seems that they are mainly for rescheduling an appointment after a refusal or something similar.
It depends on the embassy. For example in cameroon, after receiving your 2nl, u must still register at the embassy website to confirm your interview and courier service to deliver ur visa

Can you provide some police certificates after the interview? Expecting to receive one by mail but I suspect I will receive it after the day of the interview. There is still a chance I receive it before which would be the ideal scenario. Would you suggest change the day of the interview or just explain during the interview that I've requested the certificate and expect to receive it soon. Thanks.

Whatever you do, do not change your interview date or try to reschedule. Ideally preferable to attend the interview with all the required documents which includes the PCC. Worst case scenario if a document is missing on the day of your interview is you get put on AP until after the missing document has been submitted or received.

Hello, i just realized that In my dv confirmation number my first name came twice ( sameem sameem omar ) but in my passport it is ( sameem omar ). And i filled the ds260 according to my passport, is that make me disqualify? Or there is an option in ds260 that says( have you ever used other names ) i should unlock my ds260 and put the repeated name there. Please help me my case current.
Thank you.

Stop repeating the same question please. You asked this same question about two weeks ago, even with the different fake names you used then, and it was answered already.

Sorry. Yes I repeated the same question with different name cause I thought i didn’t get the answer . Someone said you should unlock the ds260 and make some corrections on option that says( have you used other names)

Unlock & fill in that name in the section that says "have you used other names". You must ensure to perfect your DS260 to the best of your ability. Unlocking isn't a problem.
