DV 2022 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Hi everyone, happy to report my GC arrived in the mail today! Interview was waived, so frontloading definitely helps in my opinion.

Thank you @Sm1smom for always going above and beyond. I'm fairly new to this forum but truly amazed by how you never ignore a post, try to answer our questions no matter the complexity, length, or repetition, always congratulate everyone or at least hit like. The information you give is beyond valuable! You truly make this world a better place. Thank You! :)

Even though most of us never met in real life, just wanted to thank this awesome community for helping so many people navigate through one of the important (and stressful) chapters of their life. It means a lot! Wishing the very best to everyone who's waiting :)
Congratulations :)

I'm sorry , that means the bachelor diploma will work instead the hs diploma?
IMO, it means that you need to have your high school diploma to be on the safe side regardless of higher degrees (i.e., Bachelor). However, it might not be an issue if IO doesn't ask for it -- basically the luck.

1. As much or as little as you wish - 12 months' worth is not too much IMO.
2. Recent statements preferable (to be on the safe side). Did your sponsor provide you with an I-134?
We didn't provide I-134 because sponsor is my family member and she didn't live in the United States (live in my country). When I mailed documents to USCIS, I sent just sponsor bank letter and statement, letter of sponsorship.

Well guys, firstly I would like to thank you all for all the support you have given me in the past few months to get to this point. This forum has been amazing and I am very thankful for all the assistance!

Seems like my interview was waived as this is the case status as of today :))

Best of luck to everyone else!
Congratulations :)

When we pay the $1,225 adjustment of status fee with a money order, do we specify ‘U.S. Department of Homeland Security' as a receiver?

Hello everyone, one question please,

For those of us that were selected for the DV 2022, can we apply to the H1-B lottery for the 2023 fiscal year (if we meet all the criteria)?
Or could have an impact on our AOS process?

Thank you very much!

Hello, would you please let me know what item numbers we should put when writing additional physical addresses and employment history in Section 14 of the I-485 Form? For example, if we lived in five different places in the past five years, we can mention three addresses in Part 3 on page 5 of the I-485 Form. We then need to write the two remaining addresses in Part 14 on page 18. For each address, we would put “Page Number: 5”, “Part Number: 3”, and “Item Number: X”. What should X be? Thank you.address.png

I left the item number blank.

Have there been many cases of people on dual intent visas (I'm on an O-1) who have been living outside of the US at the "time of winning" the lottery who have been successful doing AOS? Due to Covid I haven't been living there full time (I was in the US for about 1 month from 10th April to 11th of March 2021 - the year I won) apart from that have been away since March 2020 when Covid first hit. I read somewhere "the lottery draw will be held on March 1, and the winners will be published on May 7".

If it was technically drawn on March 1st I happened to be in the country on that date. Also I already filled out my DS260 for CP saying I have lived at my address in New Zealand since March 2020 - should I unlock and change that address to my US address? Or leave the DS260 unchanged when I change to AOS? The reason I left the US was solely due to Covid and my revenue drying up - do you think it is possible to explain your case and get a good result?

I don’t know of any similar situation such as yours. My calendar goes from March to April and not the other way round, so I don’t understand how you could have been in the US from April 10th to March 11th. Anyway, that just constitutes visiting for one month and “not living in the US” if you’ve been residing in New Zealand since 2020 and subsequently returned there after that trip IMO.

Your form(s) should be truthfully and accurately filled out, I can’t tell you how to fill out your address history.

Hi @nawinner22. A quick follow-up question regarding the $1,225 fee. So we don't need to put anything in the 'Address' section of our money order? Also, do we need to put our DV case number in the 'Memo' section of the order, in addition to mentioning that this is a payment for I-485 and biometrics fees?

Hello everyone,
I am currently in valid F1 status attending school. I sent in my AOS package yesterday. I intend to roll over into "pending" status and drop school asap.

1) When exactly is it safe for me to drop school? Is it when I receive NoA?
2) Do I have to notify my school about pending AOS case and my intentions to drop classes?

Thank you!

In general, intentionally falling out of status could end up being a MAJOR mistake IMO - maintaining a valid status throughout the entire process is highly and always recommended. What will you do if your AOS application gets rejected or denied after you've intentionally fallen out of status, or your application remains in AP until the end of the FY? You realize you'll have no fall back status at that point if you've already intentionally fallen out of status? While it is okay to have a hopeful attitude, one should never assume their AOS application will always be approved.

Anyway to directly answer your questions:
1. You may go ahead and intentionally fall out of status after receiving your NOA - being out of status from that point will not count against you while your AOS application is pending.
2. Informing your school of a pending AOS application is typically not recommended as your DSO or someone else in the international office may prematurely terminate you from SEVIS. However if you've already decided to proceed with falling out of status, then you can go ahead and inform your school after receiving your NOA.
