DV 2022 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

I received my DV fee receipt today. It’s basically the same form I sent with the payment, it’s just stamped (PAID). My 2 questions are:

1-Will this stamped form suffice as a 2NL?

2- Do I even need a 2NL for the AOS interview?

Thank you!

Hello,
I saw lot of people talking about affidavit of support and I am confused. I am a Ph.D student and plan to continue my education even after I receive my green card so, when I filed my AOS I didn't mention anything about sponsor. Am I supposed to? If so, then what do I do since I have already filed my documents and my biometrics have been scheduled?

Hello!
Congrats to everyone who was accepted by the DV lottery. I applied for the EB2-NIW and my case just got accepted. I want to fill in I-485 by myself. Just wondering, maybe someone here is familiar with my way particularly and can give me some advices?

Thank you in advance for your answers. Best, Irina
Hi! Just to clarify. For NIW-based I-485. Follow the spreadsheet that @Sm1smom did. Include 1) the Ph.D. degree with Naces evaluation. 2)You have to include a cover letter that you are going to engage in the field that you have filled the I-140 petition. 3) You have to include an employer letter that you are currently working on. 4) No High school diploma is needed.

1. That is the DV Payment Receipt. It does not act as the 2NL.
2. See the AOS-FAQs section/tab of the AOS Process Spreadsheet.

You're expected to be able to demonstrate you can self support and are unlikely to end up applying for/using public benefits for which you are not eligible when you become a LPR (regardless of if you will continue your PhD program or not). If you have the financial means to demonstrate that, should you get asked, then you do not need a sponsor.

Hello everyone, a little update on my DV Fee Payment Receipt (cashed on 04/18, included a SASE but never got a receipt in the mail). After writing KCC 3 emails asking for a copy I got:

- An email where they acknowledged they received my payment and were attaching a copy of the receipt, but forgot to attach the actual receipt.
- An email with the actual receipt attached (YAY!)
- An email saying they have not received my payment yet and to wait 2-3 weeks for processing...

So you can guess how things are going inside KCC.

Also I have a question about the form I-485:

1) When I listed my employer's and past addresses, especially those outside the U.S. the space provided didn't allow me to fully write the address (did the best that I could), is it necessary for me to use the Additional Information section to try and give more detail?

Thank you so much in advance!

Hey guys,
Just a question. Is it still within the norm timeline if I had my Biometrics at the ASC on 05/02/22 and still havent had anything about an interview? I am the FO in Charleston, SC. Thanks

Just use your discretion on this.

Hi,

My husband and I got interview letters for i485 interview. My husband filled as my dependent. However, we have two different time slots for the interviews, 8.00 am for me and 10.00 am for my husband. Is it normal or do I have to call them and inform about it? Please advice me.

Many thanks!

Your husband should plan on showing up at the same time with you. You’ll be interviewed together.

Hi guys,
I did my bio walk-in on 5/9. No update since then.
Is there a way to check the status of the background check? like whether it is complete or not.

I’m doing AOS from J1. Form I-485 is asking for:
1) A-Number
2) Nonimmigrant Visa Number

My visa stamp has a 14 digit “control number”, in addition to a bunch of other numbers but no way to tell what they are.

Any idea where to find these 2 numbers?

Thank you

In general, no there isn’t. A tier two agent may be able to provide the information when you call the USCIS 1800 number, however those folks are getting more and more difficult to reach. As such using a scarce resource when opportune to get one for the purpose of knowing if one’s background check has cleared or not whilst still waiting for the interview will be a waste of opportunity IMO.

1. You wouldn’t have an A# if you’ve never applied for an immigration benefit from USCIS before.
2. Do a google search of “us visa number on passport”

I had an EAD when I was on F1 visa years ago. Does this mean that I have an A-Number? Or F1 based EAD isn’t considered an immigration benefit?

Thank you.

If you’ve had an EAD in the past, then you do have a non-immigrant A# which you can list on the I-485. And if you can’t find it or no longer know what that number is, that is fine. You can leave the A# section blank.
