If a Druze (Druze refers to a very conservative religion in the middle east) lady made it to the USA and married someone from outside her faith, would she be able to get a green card?

By religion, Druze are supposed to married only Druze. If you married a non-Druze lady/man, you'll be banned from society. Some of them kill their children if they marry outside of the religion, others abandon them.

So if a druze lady made it her and got married to someone outside of faith or didn't even get married, would she be able to apply for residency.

Where can I find more information about similar cases?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

All what you said dose not apply to the US laws, she can do what ever she wants .

In order for her to get a green card she should be married to a US citizen. Religion has nothing to do with getting the green card.

I think the question standalone wants to find out is regarding the possibilily of the druze applying for for asylum and get it. I would say if she can show to Asylum officer that the fact that she got married with a non druze man is a danger when she returns back home, she will get asylum which is fact residency.

Is this woman from Syria, Lebanon or Israel? I have studied the Druze faith somewhat and in all of these three countries I have mentioned, they enjoy autonomy and recognition as a distinct ethnic group. Having said that, I do know that if this lady marries a non-Druze, her children will not be considered Druze. I am not too sure if this fact alone can win asylum for this lady.

It is her whole family and village that would be upset. She is from Israel and Israel is a very libral country, however, there have been so many cases where some Druze got killed, banned from society, and abandoned because they either married outside of faith or had affairs outside of faith.

AO might read the latest department of state report for Israel. It the report supports the asylum claim, then the case might have a chance.

Yes, Israel is Liberal and more liberal than all of its neighboring countries. Regardless of what's going on with its neighboring people (war), they are still considered supportive to their people. Forget about its neighbors and war.

Some people have been able to obtain asylum because of this (based on membership in a particular social group). Let me just warn you that this is probably the most complicated area of asylum law. This has generated serious controversies over the past ten years. Courts, immigration judges and academics all over the map on this. Anybody who wants to pursue asylum based on this needs competent legal advice which is not available in an Internet forum. :D

The word on the street is that the Obama administration will soon release new (favorable) regulations to address this type of asylum requests. Stay tuned.

Totally agree with you. I myself obtained asylum based on membership in a particular social group and if i didn't hire new, more competent attorney at the time I would've never won my case
