This is one of the regular processing case.. Pilot project started on April 1st 2004 & ended in sometime starting of 2005.

I am thinking of sending my first enquiry for 485. Will update you on that. Did you just ask for the status of your application?

I called to make an appoitment for FP after the receipt notice for 485. I had the FP on 10/7/05. I suppose the LUD on 485 in October was when they received the "results" of my FP/biometric appointment.

Is anyone getting LUD changes without message change, without any external stimulus e.g. without biometrics/FP and without enquiry ?

look at my signature for series of LUDs (due to RFE) but it is silent now for a week.
 
Thanks. I guess analysts have completed your case. Sitting at officers desk for final signature and approval.

Anyone from retro-ed countries (india, china, philipines, mexico )?

I know this is an exercise in futility. LUDs can change even if someone logs into your case by mistake. But what the hell ...

I hope this happens but there is a good possibility that the name check is pending!

Send an enquiry on 2/14 asking for an update on the 485 application. I specifically asked about the name check, whether they have rcvd the FP results, and if there is a time frame the case will be adjudicated. Got a response on 2/16 as: "Both applicants are still pending FBI name check clearance. Once the files have been cleared by FBI, the application will be adjudicated. The Service has NO control over how long it takes FBI to clear the case. -M. Bueno"

Why can't they add a simple "name check pending" status message. Would save us so much grief ...

Also look like this Williams chap is much more friendly than Senor Bueno. Correct ?

FP Vs Name Checks

GP111,
Is there any difference between FP and Name check process.
If they received result of FP means Name check is done or still waiting ??

Yes. Both are different. FP is checked against FP database while all Names checked against FBI Name List.. FP takes few weeks while Name check can take up to years.

Got a LUD on the 485 today 2/17 with no message change. Can it be because of the enquiry I send on 2/14?

I-485: RD 8/4 ND 8/5
LUD 10/7(attorney enquiry), 1/31(FP done), 2/1, 2/17(?)
 
My 140 was cleared on 2/2 and I got my FP done yesterday - there is not change on the LUDs for either one of them - just as an FYI

what are the chances of getting stuck under name check? what triggers a name check (it should be LUCK, isnt it??). How do we know if the case is stuck under name check, can we call them and find out?

I know two people who are still stuck in name check for more than two years. But that was back when USCIS was a mess and had huge backlogs. Things are much better now. Here http://www.ilw.com/immigdaily/news/2005,1102-huynh.shtm it's been claimed that the majority of name checks are done within months. Don't know if it's credible.

I am not sure there is a way to get info on name check. I remember somebody in the forums mentioned that we can get info about namecheck by calling 202-324-3000! NNCP (National Name Check Process) had an e-mail address fbinncp@ic.fbi.gov which looks like doesn't work anymore: http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=194658 (Oct 03 link)Haven't tried them... That's all I know.

LUD on 140 with no message change today (2/17). Previous LUD was 09/08/05. Does that mean anything?
