AUGUST - Visa revalidation tracking

HI I need some advise:

I am currently on H1B. Regular Extension/Ammendment petetion approved oln 4/23/03. Sent Passport for VISA Stamping in Dept of State but they returned the passport saying that VISA stamping to be done from Home country.

I have plans of visiting India in January 2004, but reluctant as I heard that when I go to India for stamping I have to go for face to face interview even though my H1 petetion is approved.

I have my 140/485 filed already. Has anyone been in the same situation? Please advise whether I should take the chance to get the stamping done from India or juust stay in USA until I get my EAD / AP?

Appreciate some help from persons been in the same situation recently. Also any suggestions on what are the chances VISA stamping could be rejected at India.

Do you guys know if anybody else has this kind of situation?

my last visa expired on 28th June, 03 and the renewal aproval was approved before/on that date. Then I sent my passport and I-797 to the state department and they replied that they are not processing stamping anymore and said to go back to home country for stamping. I am planning to go to India on 31st december and even bought tic. Now I am confused if I should to to India for stamping or not as it may be risky if they deny to stamp the visa in India. I have the new approval until dec 04.

please let me know your views.

As far as I know, the important thing is the date of previous visa stamping on your passport and not your I-94's. You must apply for visa-revalidation before expiry of 1 year of the stamping date on the passport. If you apply after that, they send it back to go to your home country and get it stamped. I do not know for sure.

I received my passports duly signed from the embassy today by FEDEX priority.

SL : 28th August
DC : 11th September
Approved : 17th November
Printed and Dispatched : 21st November
Received : 22nd November

Just want to express that without you guys, I would not have a clue of when to expect my passports back. This forum has been real live. Keep it up.

please find time to update your status. This has been very useful to all the members in this site. please let us know about the proceedings when you talk to the dc people. In our forum looks like sunil_green is the next one.
 
I am the most unlucky person here. It was approved 11/14, still not printed. My tickets are booked for Nov. 26. I dont think, I can get it back in time by any means. Everytime, I call them, they give me the same reply. Visa office may want to consider having automated answering system, in place of human reps. Those reps do not provide you any meaningful information anyway. They work like dumb machines.
 
Guys, I applied in august when my visa was expired in 28th June, 03. Do you think I should take the risk of going to india and get it stamped? Is there possibilities of rejection if I have the I797 approved till dec, 04?

in my case, when i apply for extension i had only 15 days to expire my existing visa. got the approval papers after 2 months, applied for revalidation and got visa stamped ( but i applied st.louis) . i think u should be okey, as long as u have new approval with new I-94 until dec'04.

there is nothing wrong u have expired visa and approval papers for another year and have all the valid applicable documents. u should be apply before one year expiration. thats all


do u know what exact reason they asking u to get stamped from out side the country? the one basic reason is, if u didnt receive ur new I-94 with ur I-797.

State dept sent your passport because you sent your PP after your visa expired after one year ..
you no other way now .. You have to go to india and get it stamped.. But now it all depends on the Documentation you have ..
Check for your W2 and LCA differences ..
Keep all the Documentation
or as you said you still have time till DEC04 Right ..
By the way Do you got your I-94 extended along with your approval ??? if not you are in serious dangerous position ..

sorry i thought its 2002.. hmm .. Then The state department should take your case in to consideration ..Do you got your I-94 along with your I-797????

AUG 18 submitted - still pending

hi all,

I submitted my H1b revalidation by aug 18 and I still did not receive it. Can you please mail me the contact number to check my status and what to ask for when I call them. I saw in the forum that the ins officers will not provide the information on the visa revalidation status. all your help is appreciated.

When you call they will ask what for are you calling?if the person is in goodmood to answer your question he/she will ask your passport number and tell you the status otherwise just they will say wait for few more weeks.

I think the better time to call is between 8.30 A.M to 9 A.M.
Do not call after 3 P.M, by that time most of the Visa Officers will be tired of attending the phone calls and you donot get proper answer in most of the times.
