Abeku66, no need for insults. It is fun to speculate about this things. Personally, I enjoy reading peoples comments. USA immigration, actually a lot of countries, is somewhat a "blackbox", hence thinking that at least someone has a bit of insight into this "blackbox" should put a smile on all our faces, if accurate or not. I have lived in North America almost all my life, yet I am puzzled by how immigration officers adjucate the many cases that passes through the agency each year.

So let us be open minded about things and let us keep our insultive comments to ourselves.

well, i only needed to make a point but if you find it insulting then i regret to say that i am also being ripped off my freedom of speech. Can you tell exactly what you find insulting about my point ?? Is it wrong for me to point out someone's weakness ?I know a dv lottery winner who was refused an immigrant visa because he couldn't construct a whole sentence in English language without making grammatical mistakes and yet claimed he was a high school graduate .I was only trying to point out the man's weakness for him to improve upon just in case he gets caught out in a similar situation during the interview. If 3akmamoud has any insider information, why can't he tell the House the exact figures before the bulletin is released ??

Abeku66 - Wonderful Wonderment!!!!!!!!!

Hi Abeku66 i gave up on the dv 2008 last month with my CN AF57xxx. I even stop reading contributions on this forum. I got the August Bulletin in my email and was even relunctant to read it due to dispair, but just said i will skim through only to find a really BREAKING NEWS. This is really Breaking News. I am in London here and contacted you sometime ago. Can you send me your telephone number again please as i have lost it.

Those of us who have become current in the last bulletin, what happens now?, do we wait for the 2nd letter?, or, is it wise to contact KCC and when.

I will also in UK and would very much appreciate guidence on how thsi works, i.e., how do you get notification to attend medical and what is the procedure to make appointment or is it already booked by KCC, where?.

Any contribution welcome to ease tensions and uncretainty.

since sept is just around the corner, i think it 'll be a good idea to start putting things in place prior to receiving the 2NL.It will be a good idea to call them sometime next week to confirm the interview date after which you can book your medical etc.

Medicals

Thankx for your reply, I presume they send details of how to arrange medicals and whom to call etc.

By the way, where are they undertaken??, as I dont live in London and would have to arrange time off, travel etc.

regards

YEAH... all directions regarding the medicals is detailed in the 2NL as far as i know. The center is located in Central London and there is a reliable tube connection to the place. There is a phone number supplied in the 2NL to call and book the medical. When you call them you can ask them how to get there and they will be willing to furnish you with all the info.Mind you if you are from either Ghana or Nigeria , you might be considering obtaining police certificate from your country of origin if you ever lived there up to the age 16.We need to beat the september rush hour.

Africa is not current and neither is Nigeria but I'm. This is unbelieveable !!!

Thanks for that abeku66, as you are ahead of me in the processing, keep us posted i.e., visa fees, ex-rate etc. Hopefully we will beat the deadline in good time.

Just one thing, how did you receive your 2nd notification given that the time factors are tight. I have seen posts of people receiving via e-mail.

:)

I haven't rec'd the 2NL yet but i 've seen one that was mailed to a friend of mine nearly a month ago.She also did her processing in London.I will call KCC sometime next week to confirm the Interview date .If i happen to be interviewed before you, i will do my best to give you all the necessary updates. In the meantime i've booked an appointment with scotland yard to get the finger print done.I have also downloaded the London Police Report for my wife and i and will mail it soon.I will however wait till i receive the 2NL before i book the medical.

Police Certificate Dated July 2007?

Comrades, has anyone an idea how old a police certificate should be for the DV interview?

My wife and I applied for police certificates from two countries last year after receiving the DV notification letter. We were sent the certificates in July last year. We have not visited those countries since then, can we still use the certificates even though they are a year old?

Abeku66 any ideas on this? Meanwhile your phone is difficult to get through.

Thanks

Gooma.. as far as i know , police certificate is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.Someone may have a different opinion though.I am also sure you can make an informed decision by clicking on this link http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/faqs/faq_visa_iv.html#iv041

How long is a police certificate valid for? With the exception of the U.K. police certificate which is considered valid for 12 months from the date of issuance, a police certificate is valid indefinitely, provided you do not return to the country and reside for six months or more, if it's your country of birth or current residence. The period is twelve months for any other country.

Meanwhile, you can get me on 07841999263.

This text is from the embassy's website. I can't believe they were able to write such a long and confusing statement....
I mean, how can you not reside in a country if it's your current residence...

Thanks Abeku66 for the invaluable info. I think Pharunde2 could be right with the staement. It took me time to make sense of the 'long and confusing statement'. It is open to wide interpretations and potential interpreted to suit ones situation.

Is this interpretation/breakdown correct?

1. UK police police certificate is valid for 12months
2. Other countries are indefinite provided one does not go back to the country and live
there for up to six months.
3. The conditional words 'provided' and 'if' in the last two clauses of the first sentence are particularly confusing and the source of a potential misinterpretation of the rule.

[a police certificate is valid indefinitely, provided you do not return to the country and reside for six months or more, if it's your country of birth or current residence]

The 'if' in the last clause would be 'and' if the - valid indefinitely - is referring to only ones 'country of birth or current residence'. I think the 'valid indefinitely' could refer to ones country of birth and any other country that one has lived for more that 6 months.

4. Another confusing component of the rule is the last sentence:The period is twelve months for any other country. Which 'any other country'? If 'any other country' refers to all other countries apart from ones 'country of birth and current residence', then there is potentially a problem as to why the first part of the sentence should single out the UK to say a rule that applies to all other countries apart from 'country of birth and current residence' (despite that it is under the London consular).

My problem is that i have police certificates from 2 countries (my country of birth and another country i stayed for two years)

Hello.
To cut it short, I think the following applies:
- the police certificate is valid for 12 months for the country of current residence
- the certificate is valid indefinitely for any other country, provided you didn't reside there since you obtained the certificate

I hope this is true!

I think your explanation is right.

Pharunde2, I think your view is logical and right, i am mentally comfortable with it. It may also be advisable to write to KCC for further clarification while there is still some time to deal with any contrary explanation.

Thanks comrades abeku66, Pharunde2 and macon.

Evidence of Support: Can Wife use Husband's bank statement?

Comrades,
Can a wife use her husband's bank statement as evidence of financial support to process DV? The lady is applying with the husband.

Thanks
