By the way, thank you for posting the info...It is really a great information.

Paincard,
Here is the complete link

I talked to my lawyer and she said DOL is still processing Jan 2003, and she said she does not have any application approved for FEB 2003 :(

Thanks, Carol, for keeping us informed with this good news. This is definitely a good improvement. However for me, DOL is the one blocking the way. I even wonder if I could be lucky enough to get my Labor cleared by the end of this year.

Guys...Looks like it's great news for AOS

If the above system gets implemented then I guess, AOS would be much quicker & safer option then CP.

If we are one of the early lucky ones then whole process can complete with in year.

What do you guys think about this sudden change?

Oh! BTW, I-140 is not moving at all, if they are going to based on I-140 processing dates, then who knows, it may get even slower...due to extra load...and things will be same....waiting for another 3 years...

Guys let's not cheer this early

My company consult to one of the biggest law firm in the world...yes, in the world....

I emailed my lawyer....regarding this news....Here is what he had to say:

"This press release was posted on the AILA Infonet on 4/16. The memo serves to
establish two different categorires of AOS applications - those that were filed
as a stand alone case and those that were filed concurrently with the I-140. The
current method is to separate concurrently filed I-140/AOS cases to be processed
by their respective departments. Many of the concurrently filed AOS cases are
being delayed due to a significant number of AOS cases that were filed in 2001
and 2002 that are currently still awaiting FBI clearance.

This memo should not be read to indicate AOS applications that are filed
concurrently with I-140s should be processed in the same timeframe as I-140s.
The memo only proposes to allow concurrently filed cases to be processed by a
different "department" so that once fingerprints and name checks have cleared,
the CIS may proceed with processing both the I-140 and the I-485"

i was happy there for a second till your poster spilled cold water on the momemtary euphoria that garols post created.

anyway, in layman terms your lawyer says that only the I140/485 will be processed concurrently but that does not mean that they will be approved concorrently. am i understanding this correctly?

Yes you understood correctly

I140/485 will be processed concurrently by the same department instead of two different departements.

This does not mean that the approval time frame will be same for both stages.

Thanks ognep !!!!

Thanks ognep,

I would suggest better to speak with your lawyer/Hr People and
find out the status.

If you have the case number with you, Go ahead and find out the status by calling DOL directly; I hope they will definitely help you.

Just told them that your case reached at DOL in JAN first week and give them the case number.

Thanks

--------------------------

my understanding is 140/485 will be processed concurrently by the same agent and there shouldn't be big gap between two approves since the agent is moving 140/485 at the same time.

Additional info from my attorney: "The instructions for concurrant adjudication have been sent to the Service Centers - but they have up to 30 days to implement the plan." So the real execution could be at the end of May.

Status check

I came to know that my case is transfered to Atlanta regional office.
How to check my status? Trying to call 404-562-2131 but it rings forever!
Gurus please suggest me something.

gc_ky123

Calling at this 404 562 2115 number won't help as AVM updation is not at their hand.

But still you can try, otherwise call this number and ask them that
AVM is not been updated since a long time.

"1-877-US-2JOBS"

Thanks

Friends,

...just thought of checking on my old friends...

My case details : RD Feb6,2003. Approved on Feb4,2004. AVM is not updated with my case approval ...yet.

Regarding I-140/I485 : Just to correct the understanding of CAROL. Instructions were sent to regional service centers on 3/31/2004 according to a note, that I read. which measn that concurrent processing to start effective 4/30/04 and NOT on May30th.
