Adjustment of Status Interview

The other day my US wife and I had our very FIRST AOS interview, and we were severely grilled by the interviewer. I thought that only happened during the second ("Stokes") interview, so I don't know whether we shall be given yet another chance at an interview.
During the videotaped separate interviews 2 or 3 answers didn't match. More than 15 or 20, however, did match, because we were prepared. The interviewer was leaning towards denial of my application due to her suspicions of a fraudulent marriage on the basis of my not remembering what my wife wore prior to having sex with me several evenings ago, but later called my wife's mother on the phone, as my wife sobbingly broke down. Then my mom-in-law confirmed the bona fide nature of our relationship and the interviewing officer started leaning towards approbation this time.

Then my wife showed her the whole crate of supporting evidence we had brought to the interview (photos, apartment lease, bank statement, presents I had given my wife, the video recording of the wedding ceremony, etc.) but the lady didn't seem that interested in it and upon standing up from her chair told her, "You know, this is too corny to be fake." When she escorted us out she told us to wait for a written decision in the mail. She had taken my I-94, had scratched off my tourist visa upon which she had also written A7578957947 and a "filed for AOS," but had NOT stamped anything in the passport itself. She said she had to talk to her supervisor about our case.

Did we or did we NOT have a "Stokes" interview???? Do you think we may be given a chance at another one, considering the fact that we were already subjugated to the grueling questions, the videotaping, etc. during our very first interview? Or do you think it will be a flat denial?
Please gimme whatever feedback you may think is relevant. Thank you in advance.

Are there significant differences between you and your wife, i.e. age, ethnicity, faith, etc? First marriage for both of you? Which one of you is the AOS applicant? Any overstay or out of status for the AOS applicant?

Please gimme whatever feedback you may think is relevant.

Probably they may call you for stoke interview OR you may receive approval notice. Sounds like she was really mean to you.

I am so sorry to hear it Lambchop2. I will pray for you.
Can you give us more info about your case? How long you've been married? Anything that could be fishy?

Thanks, "y'all," lol..... You have been helpful and kind and I appreciate it. Well, no age/faith/language discrepancies whatsoever between us; been together a year, though the marriage was only 7 months old during the time of the interview, we'd been dating for 4-5 months prior to getting hitched. The interviewer asked my wife (who is the US citizen; I am European) why she was with shortish, "avantgard" hair at the time of the wedding but with longer hair at the time of the interview and whether she was putting on a show solely for the interview..... My wife and I are wondering why it is so unusual that a woman should wanna grow out her hair when her hubby thinks it's nice.......... Yes, the interviewer grilled us but wasn't "mean," to be honest.
We were married while I was still here, waiting for a decision on my tourist visa stay extension (a decision on which never came, by the by), so I had overstayed my six month allowance but wasn't here illegally, as I was applying for an extension.
Can you guys tell me more of your opinions, please. You all seem to be in the know, whereas my wife and I are fearing a denial or something, as she and I are not that knowledgeable about the experiences of other couples.....

Right now, all you can do is wait. If 30 days pass and no contact from USCIS, then do ahead and schedule an infopass. You might just get an approval in the mail, who knows. Think positive.

Good thing it wasn't me in the interview. I probably would have punched the interviewer in the face after being asked about that. Or at least told them some cuss words and walked out.

Just be sure you will never get your GC if you have the guts doing it.

How long does it take to receive interview notice for Green Card after fingerprint?

This is wrong thread for your question. Post the question in the September filers thread and someone will answer your question. The answer to your question is: it depends (anywhere between a month - 3 months depending on your case).

Thanks a lot for your answer and reminding me. I've just known about this website and I have just been here since yesterday so i dont know much, But anyway, thanks a lot

basis of my not remembering what my wife wore prior to having sex with me several evenings ago

Seriously, is this what all of the high-fidelity processing has come to? If the answer to this question is determining the bonafide nature of the marriage it seems more like a memory test. Science (cognitive/social psych to be specific) has repeatedly shown that memory tests on human interactions and interpersonal relationships have very *low* validity and does not establish the strength of relationships. If someone forgets specific elements of an interaction sequence with a significant other it is not a measure of the strength of their relationship, but rather only a function of their working memory! Too bad, scientifically archaic methods are still used to establish interpersonal relationships.

Right you are: law is a blunt tool, but at least it gives one the right to appeal such erratic decisions.... Do you guys know whether a green card denial is appealed before an actual judge afterwards?

lambchop,

You should have escalated issues, the question on what color was your wife wearing the last you had sex, you could have said, she wears none on the days we plan to burn the bushes in bed...:)

Sorry for the horrible experience and just keep your hands on the mailbox for some :D good news...

Do you guys think that once we undergo a vedeotaped interview there will be NO chance of a second one, or is a second one possible?

Whether they videotape it or not doesn't determine whether you will get a second interview.

Edit your post at the start of this thread to remove the A#, because that can be used by spammers and scammers to personally identify you.

Has anyone had experiences with their answers not matching with their spouse's answers completely (yet matching for the most part) during the videotaped interviews and still being all right at the end?

I personally think you will be approved. She may not have had the full authority to approve your case that was why she wanted to speak to her supervisor... Best of luck anyway.
