Officially in NameCheck hell

Just called VSC .. they confiirmed that my case is pending NameCheck. I have been in US for 8yrs now. Patnams is right .. the longer you are in US .. the longer it takes for clearing NameCheck. Seems rather unfair.

one more LUD today without any message change

I have seen LUD yesterday (06/21) and today(06/22) on both mine as well as my spouses I-485 case(No message change,it still shows FP rcvd on 04/26 and processing resumed)...Can someone help me out to understand what might be in sotre for me???

Is it RFE or approval on the way??

We have to call up the National Cust Service and raise a query. They will send a official reply in mail. Also send a mail to FBI.

Once we do these things, we can move forward and decide what to do next.

Hi,
I have been here for 8 yrs now as well. I was approved recently. I don't think length of your stay in US affects NameCheck. As far as I know, Name Check is delayed if you have a common last name, viz., Patel, Reddy, Rao, Khan, etc., It worsens if there are more than one persons in the US that have the same first name and last name as yours.

Hi Gurus,

I got speeding ticket couple of years ago. Will this be obstacle to my FBI name check clearance. My 140/485 is pending since from while ago.

After just 2 LUDs it's hard to say. If you keep getting consecutive LUDs for 3 to 5 days, I think you are heading for an RFE.
Is there any reason you suspect you may get an RFE ?

Can you please let me know who you will interpret a case where there has been no LUD or message change so far. It has been more than 5 weeks that I have done FP and still have the notice date message( Your case was recieved on.....it is taking between...days to process...).

It means tumhara number abhi nahi aayaa (read - your number has not been called yet) :) just kidding.
No LUD means the adjudicating / reviewing officer has not had a chance to look at your case. No news is good news in this case. Wait till the published dates cross your ND. My guess it you will see at least one LUD before the published dates cross your ND. Then you can call about your case status.

Also, usually if you call NSC or VSC you will be asked to wait for at least 8 weeks (60 days) after your "FP received" message before you can expect anything - LUD, message change, RFE or approval.

A co-worker of mine, had a very unique name (both first and last), a general search on google yeilds hardly any hits, and any hit belong to him. He's been aroung for 7+ years.

I have an extemely common middle name, and pretty common first name. My last name is not common though. The combination of first/last and DOB should certaily be very rare.

I've heard of and known many people with much more common names getting approvals.

As per rule, one with a unique names should not get stuck in name check. But I guess when you stay long enough and move around a bit, your name gets into different places. The faulty FBI software seems to be making a hit I guess.

Depends on Speed :)

Also depends on what car you were driving, FBI doesnt like it when you are driving a non-american car like honda, toyota etc. They put your name on national database for alien drivers of alien cars and it makes a Name Check hit :)

Thanks mate!! Mine is Eb3 with PD=april 2002. This will be a summer to remember. No checking LUD. Wonder what I will do with all that extra time. :rolleyes:

I disagree with you beeru_thaganu. My name is Mruthyunjay Aindla. I bet you will not find a single record in US (except mine :)). My 485 application is pending because of name check (I called cust serv and verified) even though my PD is Jan 2002. I have been in US for 6 Yrs. Longer stay in US theory seems to be in effect. Any clue?

I think USCIS is lying just to avoid more questions from applicant.

If feel same as you that USCIS is lying just to avoid more questions from applicant. If a case is delayed then we should expect Namecheck pending reponse from USCIS. I hardly saw apporval in past days.
