Hi Guys,

Today i had infopass Appointment. I just finished it this morning.
It was in Phoenix. Everything was fine. It just took 30 minute
from entering the building to coming out of it.

At the end, the lady there said it will take 6 months to 1 year
for plastic card to reach me.

Gurus, How shoul i interpret it ?

Was she giving me the maximum time frame and it take less or
is it really going to take longer. I don't know i am confused and a bit angry too.

Guys fill in some inputs.

1. What are the advantages of getting PP stamped?
2. Do we need to inform SS Office regarding status change?


I have heard that at the time of PP stamping we have to surreneder old EADS and APS.

1. You will get approval notice like (C) Kosmo, it will not mention passport stamping. Advantage of passport stamping is that as soon as you get it done, you can travel overseas. Also you have one more evidence of your GC status, in case you misplace your card.

2. No you do not need to inform SSA. They will get the information from USCIS. Just go to a SSA office with your SSN card and get it changed on any Friday - when you are having fun. Boy what a research! For I-9 a SSN card without restrictions is as good as your GC, otherwise if you are lazy - just forget it - it doesn't matters.

Now wait for Kabootars to land on your mailbox with approval notice tied to their necks.

Hi Jk, Thx for your kind words on my case, I Now want your advice on the situation on my freinds query on 485.
Here is a brief on his case.
NH Labor Approved Dec 03
140 ND Jan 04
140 AD Oct 04
485 ND Nov 04
FP AP EAD all approved.

Now the query: Between Oct 01 and May 02 My friend didnt have a job and also had no paystubs (had a valid H1 though).
485 Query wants to know if he was in status between Feb 02 to Feb 03. He is right now planning to reply to the query via his company lawer, But mu question really is, Is this a serious query? He really has no paystubs (and Subsequently out of status, Had H1 though) for 4 months of the 12 in question), can he be denied based on this. Please let me know...thx again.

That is standard reply - she is paid to speak like a parrot.

Check card tracker in 485 forum(not a sticky) - people get it in 2-4 weeks generally. If you have problem finding it make a search in posts started by LC_Virginia - our good old volunteer.

Congratulations!

In my case I got a similar message. No passport stamping was necessary, and I got my GC yesterday by mail (03/28/05).
Seems that CIS is now following this procedure in some cases (I am not sure what is the criteria).

Actually here is the info related to getting my laminated card:
EB2
I485 AD: 03/21/05
CO (Card Ordered): 03/21/05 (same day as I485 approval)
CM (Card Mailed): 03/24/05
CR (Card Received): 03/28/05

I hope this information will help you and other people in same situation.

New 485 Approval Notice Message

Recieved 485 approval notice today 3/28. week after approval.

Notice says,

Case approved. Immigrant Card Facility will mail card directly. If you dont recieve card in 120 days call Cust Service.



Apart from the above 2 lines nothing is mentioned.


Got 2 same copies for Self(Primary), 1 copy for Spouse.




Does this mean no need to go to PP Stamp..


Anybody in the same boat? Please share , I have infopass appt set up for
Monday April 4th.. Should I go or not??

Btw, my FP was Code 3, Electronic..

Any RFE can lead to denial if replied incorrectly. Tell your friend to talk to the lawyer on these lines:

People on H1b can stay on vacation for 180 days. I was on vacation for XX days in year N and YY days in year N+1. Attach those vacation letters, signed by company, and H1b papers to show that he was in status. Break the vacation yearwise.

It is not a big deal and usually lawyers are very adept to handle such situations.

For you I would say as early as today to as late as 8 weeks. Highest probability is in range this evening thru next 15 days(actually next week you should be done - most likely - I am just playing safe here).

Yes, my app was also filed between those dates. My I-140 is still pending, even after FP was done. Could you pls let us know when you hear from USCIS.

I filed in the same week too. I did not get FP notice either. My case is on HOLD. That is all I know. I have already requested for status enquiry on my 485.

it is hard to say whether it is an RFE or not. as mentioned earlier by many people, LUD's could change due to number of reasons (known and unknown). in your case lud's could be changing because of name check etc but as your PD is not current they may do everyother formality but "approval".

This is the online message for my case:

"On March 28, 2005, after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready."

It clearely indicated that card will be mailed to me. Do you think it is safe play (after playing with unsafe player (anyone remembers BodyLine english serials) USCIS for GC) to get PP stamped or just chumma Kutriya.

I got emails at 10:30 in the evening.....

Hi KosmoKramer,

I received an email for card ordered the same day the message changed on 03/21 around 8:30 pm EST (also the same day my I485 was approved). You shouldn't be concerned if you didn't received the email but your message changed. Three days after my card was ordered I received another email stating that my card was mailed (CM).
