URGENT - Can I buy real estate in India?

When you obtained US citizenship you lost Indian Citizenship and all rights of an Indian citizen. You no longer have legal title to your property. This can cause you real problems if any nosey person decides to push it. There are probably many approaches to this problem but what we did is put...

URGENT - Can I buy real estate in India?

I am sorry to inform that as a U.S. citizen you will not be eligible to own property in India. An Indian citizen can, however, own property in the U.S. You can't have it both ways. It's a little like choosing a bride. Once you have chosen you must forsake the others.

    Tax forms and interview.

I had all of my tax transcripts up to date when I sent in the N-400, but my tax preparer had me put in a request for extension this year due to an unusually complicated income year. My interview is in November and I won't have a return for 2004 to show yet. Do you think this will be a big...

Correct. I am pointing out that if you do not meet the 10 year residence you must be a US citizen to get SS benefits in India.

Is citizenship required to receive Social Security benefits?

As an Indian, unless you can prove 10 years of US residence, you must be a US citizen to receive SS benefits outside of the US. This requirement differs from one nation of birth to another, and even depends on date of birth in some cases. I wish I could give you a different answer, but being...

My understanding is that the waiver is for only certain specific circumstances. Detailed in the regs is being outside the US as a missionary, serving in the military, or accompanying the citizen spouse who is overseas on official US government orders on government business. Working for a US...

Waiver of 30 months Physical Presence for dependent when US Citizen primary is abroad

How carefully did they check on your entries and exits while you were overseas? I have had a GC for 24 years and worked overseas with the US military much of that time. I can't possibly reconstruct the record of every entry and exit for that period with any real accuracy. I filed a FOIA request...

    Dallas TX - N-400 Timeline -

It's a fingerprint date. I sent fingerprints with the original ap but that's been more than 90 days so they want prints again. I am in Germany with the military and should be able to do them here but there is no good arguing with them so I will go give them prints again. Any arguing just rocks...
