If a passport agency is nearby, you can get it the same day you take oath. I did that. But you will have to set up an appointment in advance. Also, you will have to show your upcoming travel itinerary.

I wonder if you can use this cheaper solution. Make a Photo copy and get it Notarized as "It is true copy". I have done it for univeersity trancripts.. and it worked.
