    If the attorney is from out of town from where the interview is, I think you have to pay the legal fee, travel costs and boarding costs. I don't know if they add up to $3,100 or not. Usually the legal fee would be between $600 to 1,000 itself.

    I applied for adjustment of status in USA after obtaining J1 waiver, as soon as you apply for AOS you can leave the present job, provided the waiver is approved

    I am sorry. I wasn't thinking straight :D . Take your I-485 receipt, and the transfer notice if you got one. If not take the print out from the BCIS case status showing that your case has been transferred.

    Memphis is not too bad crowd-wise. I alyas used to go around noon. There was not much waiting, may be 15 minutes. Make sure you take your approval notice. Try to talk to the lady at the window, not the guy. Good luck.

    If you are close to memphis, you might want to go there and enquire at the window. Mine was transferred to memphis in Dec. and I went there to enquire in April, and I got the Interview on May 04, 2004. Good Luck

    The welcome letter just looks like the receipt notice. It will have a SRC number that you can use to track the status of your card.

    I received atleast 5 or 6 welcome letters within 10 days after my stamping. Got my card a week after the last welcome letter.

    I think it depends on the officer that stamped your passport, and the timely fashion they order the card. The officer that did mine looked very organized, and my attorney said the same thing about him.

    I had my passport stamped in Memphis, and got the card in 19 days after the stamping. I received at least five welcome letters in the mean time. :D

    I was interviewsd in the Memphis office. I was in the same job since I applied for adjustment.. I did not get any RFE. My attorney said that it is just a random thing, that they send some cases to the local INS. My RD is July 2001, ND August 2001

    It just took 5 minutes. The examiner was very nice. He asked for paystubs and tax returns and employment letter. Then he said he needed to get the visa # from washington via internet. it took them 30 minutes to get that and my passport was stamped. He was looking if I was in the same job etc.

    My wife is just about to apply for 485. Right now she is working in milwaukee, but she is applying as a derivative thru me in Texas center. Can she get her medical done in Milwaukee by a BCIS approved Doctor, and apply 485 in Texas? Any Ideas? Thanks Satya123
