What is the alien number - Is it assigned after you file I-485? I got my approval notice for I-140 EB1-EA a few days back and it has an A# (9 digits) under the Beneficiary heading. Is this the one I should use for my 485 application? Can anyone here with approved I-140 confirm? Thanks.

I think the number of RFE's for 485 is higher for EB2 and EB3 as compared to EB1. 140 is considered the most important step for EB1 and NIW.

congrats Congrats madgu-gc2005!! I think you can call it approved. They might have started working on your case even after sending the PP request back to your lawyer for signature.

After approval of 140, I am now working on 485/131/765. I see that the forms are not that difficult to fill out. Is there a need for a lawyer? I can't seem to think of any benefits of hiring a lawyer. Could anyone shed some light? Appreciate your help.
